  • I have no intention of ever using the big ring. Only that all modern chainsets are triples. Could I just get a triple and only use the Granny rings?

  • What I did on Kati's bike is to get a triple and have 46/30, then use a chain guard to replace the big ring, the advantage is that chain line is perfect on the 46t leaving less wear on the long run.

  • Ah I understand - I meant that if you were worried about gears, getting the right chainrings on your double would do the job. But if you're going modern, do it.
