  • ^Noice. CGDGBE?

  • You knows it. Didn't attempt the twiddly-twiddly-twiddly-twiddly banjo rolled flourishes in the intro and outtro as I only really nail about one time in four. By the time I'd got to last verse without having banged a finger pick on the body or got any words wrong I thought; let's not tempt fate.

  • Awesome version. And fingerpickz? Cripes.

  • Only just realised you're dooks... D'oh! Stupid internetz...

  • Look into my eye!

  • As discussed months ago, below are a couple track my old band did. The drummer went on to be pro....you know what I do. By old, I'm talking 15 years now!

  • You're a fucking baby, Caspar!

My last commercially available release came out 21 years ago... :$ #wellpassedit

  • Not that young, I'm having to sell my 5 string bass and I've bought a great little 4 string....because it is light, because my back is so bad now I can't lug a 5 string round or have it hung round my neck for any length of time.

    Bollocks it is.

  • Sad to hear your back's still fucked, I thought you were all fixed up... :(

  • Nope...scan = more horror + more surgery sometime in the next year or so.

    Spiteful spine.

I'm fine at the moment though, racing, playing working etc, all good.

  • Cool, glad to hear there's a fix on the horizon... Spines ARE spiteful!

  • did a bit of vince practice today:

    Lovely @Apone . Different name, same sound(cloud)

  • Hey Rapsac, bonus points from me for having a song with an unashamed rrrrrroled rrrrrrrr in it.

Cheers David. Yep it's still me. Don't really know what happened to "dooks". Meh. Off to Germanyland to record this weekend. Hopefully with a great session drummer. Shall report back as to how I get on. Been busy writing and (home) recording here too. Lots of bits nearing fruition... fun times!

  • I'm showing the Big Star documentary on Sunday, upstairs at the Prince Regent in Herne Hill... 8pm, free entry, all welcome...

  • Can't be there dude but (and with apologies to Rickster for:

a: any bits of the the solo I got right, in which case I cadged them off him and

b: all the bits I very probably got wrong. I haven't listened to the original in a while... dunno why, just find it intimidating once your own version exists. Guess I'd rather keep getting it wrong and call it a "version")

    I dun this:

I commit it to digital permanence because ropey and wrong as it may be, I was very definitely feeling the love during this home recorded demo/rehearsal version. xx

  • This might be a bit off thread but here goes. I've recently been making some guitars from bits and bobs. Here's a 4-string incorporating an old tom tom, a bannister and some radiator covers. It's got a rod piezo pickup under the bridge and a volume pot. Sounds awful acoustically but great when amplified.

Really lovely... (sheds a tiny tear)

Wow. Waaaaay beyond cigarbox. Strong work...

  • Cheers rickster! I'll post a few more cigar box inspired mutants when I find the photos...

  • plus, i think i can see the ghost of aphex twin on the top.

  • Thanks apone.. I think that's a reflection in the copper top of some portraits I did a while back but now that you mention it, there is a "window licker" face in there somewhere! Here's a chisel box electric 6-string I made prior to the banjo looking thing.

  • Ha! Love the bridge. Great work man.

  • Just got back from recording in Germany this weekend. Wasn't quite what I'd hoped for in that the live session was cancelled but still did some good work on a couple of tunes. Also met up with a German swing band and played a load of of amazing old 20s and 30s gypsy jazz tunes in their kitchen. So much fun!
