Thanks, I was sort of under the impression that I'd need very clean tyres for the track though (and so require a spare wheelset)?
I live so close to LVV that I could just carry the bike there, it's more that I don't want to ride around brakeless, I don't think the [potential] fork is drilled and I have a spare road fork...
The headset will be fine as long as you always adjust it correctly after every swap. For just riding to the track, the easiest method is a cross-top style brake lever with a hinged clamp, then it's just the lever clamp screw and the caliper fixing nut to undo to make the switch, and you don't have to carry anything else to the velodrome.
