  • I think @depps was willing to part from the first frame ?

  • Where shall we meet then? Are you free sat?

I could part with the smaller frame after I've swapped the bits over.

  • Saturday could work for me, depending on where you envision meeting - I could manage with two bikes on a train but the less distance I have to travel the better!

  • How about Oxford?

  • Oxford is a bit of a mare to get to from here (S-u-A is the end of the line, literally)... somewhere on the Leamington - Warwick - Banbury line would be best

  • Name a few stations halfway that are good for you

  • Banbury? That's the furthest I can get on the direct Stratford line without being stranded for hours

  • I'm 5' 8" - what do you think fit-wise?

    Mel

  • Hi - if the deals above fall thru I'm willing to pay the asking price for the racer and come to Stratford to collect this weekend.

  • Thanks awfully for the offer - it would indeed be good for your height. I am seriously tempted, if I'm honest - I've just found out that my new bike won't be ready for a good 6 weeks, and without a car I'm going to be on foot for all that time if I give up the Roadster... money isn't the issue at all here, and I'm wary of being unfair on depps... oh gosh

  • OK tjkwood. Let me know. Don't want to tread on toes.......but it's a beauty!!!!

  • Read your fixie/finger story. Yeugghhh. Friend of mine, new to maintaining fixies did similar. Found himself on his council flat balcony with his finger between rear cog and chain - minced but firmly locked between sharp metal parts. Now get this....with his free hand he reached for an open ended spanner and somehow released the rear spindle from the drop outs, slid the wheel forward to introduce enough slack in the chain to turn the rear wheel with his finger in it and then out of it. Similar pictures of jam on a stick!

  • oh blimey, that's awful! if it wasn't for the friend who distracted me in the first place, I would've been stuck without any help. In terms of the Sports, I would really like to accept your offer - I shall wait for depps to come back and comment, but hopefully he'll understand the situation I'm in

  • No worries dude, lets chat when you want to get rid of the roadster.

  • thanks for being understanding!

  • there we go then - when can you make it to Stratford?

  • Thanks depps....

  • PM'd you tjkwood

  • Wow this moved on quickly - been away for the weekend. Glad you've managed to get a good sale @tjkwood she really is a beauty, to whoever buys it, I'd be tempted to keep the paint how it is, it looks wonderful, I can understand the allure of a crisp new enamel job, but there's something about the patina. @anidel the Holdsworth is a 531 Special. It took some serious tracking down as the person who sold it to me had no idea - he thought it was a Cinelli - which it clearly wasn't. I'm going to build it back up as a SS with some more vintage componentry than was on it before, so it will definitely be even better when it rolls again!

  • Cool ending!

I'm sure @depps will get the Roadster in a few weeks and all are happy :)

  • Yup dibs the Roadster :)

  • Paint will stay as is - all will stay as is! Looks fab in the pics - maybe better in the 'flesh'. Collecting this afternoon! Excited.

  • Nice!!!

  • Wise choice @Melsbikes , you've got a beauty there, enjoy.

  • Ah, I thought @Melsbikes was actually @MatMabe :)
