Only just managed to read all that. Well done, Clive, it was a pleasure to read that, fogged-up glasses notwithstanding, you managed it with such ease. As they say, cycling is very simple, you get out what you put in, and your summation at the end was spot on. There are so many reports of charity rides by people who are unprepared and then make some story out of their 'heroic' achievements, because bike riding is so hard, and it's great to see how your training made you so strong that there were no issues with your fitness that might have added to difficulties like missed turns in mountainous territory or heavy rain. Shame about the car crashes! Hope the others enjoyed it, too, despite their assorted misfortunes.
