  • Ignoring costs...

Bit difficult that. If it's too pricey to race you won't get a quality field, just those who can afford it. I'm not exactly skint but I would find it hard to justify £60+ a month to ride track league anywhere.

They shouldn't be looking at the racing side of things as an earner, they have enough corporate and other sessions to do that. This is all speculation anyway until they announce it but I'm not holding my breath.

And £36 a month or whatever it is for storage is definitely a piss take. It's less than that for a whole season at HH.

  • From what I have heard it looks like a track league is starting soon. LVVP will be running it and not local clubs. However, a LVVP users group is being proposed.

    Totally agree...

  • Saw that yesterday about the storage costs for a year. A bit ludicrous...

They should really make it cheaper... maybe with a caveat that you had to book a minimum of a certain number of sessions in a year, otherwise your storage space goes to the next person on the inevitable waiting list.

It's a vicious circle; take out a storage contract for £30 a month and then you have to do at least a couple of sessions a week to make it feel worthwhile...

They've still got hooks available, so not sure the uptake was quite as expected...prob due to cost.

Hey-ho. Probably just feels like a bit of a shock after a great summer at HHV...which is such good value and just down the road.

  • Just heard from our track secretary and another rider who recently went to his stage 3 that the track league will be starting in November.

  • If its more than £10 to race then I won't bother. Especially not given I will have to drag my bike to and fro on the train every time I go and pay £4.80 each way for the privelege.

Also, I bet the pubs in Westfield don't even serve pork scratchings....

  • Why go to Westfield for pubs? crate Brewery is closer and does excellent post-race pizza.

  • There is also Leyton Technical...

Yes, I ve heard similar concerns about pricing. However, please don't flounce. We all need the Velopark to work

  • It's not going to work if they price everyone out. Hey cycling is full of middle aged bankers earning 6 figures and commuting on Pinarello Dogma's right, there's money to be made there.

  • ^^^ Bump for Crate Brewery...the Best Bitter is Best

  • I really want it to work - but everything to do with LVV seems to as long winded, expensive and difficult as possible.

  • Not my endz. I just assumed the area surrounding the Olympic park was still full of murderers and middle class children house sitting industrial buildings while they make art?

  • No, they all moved to Dulwich before it was cool.

  • Dulwich is cool?

  • Hey! Middle class children making art are people too, y'know.

  • For sure Gaz, I have been known to Art from time to time. I could have become a professional Art-er if it wasn't for the knee injury I sustained as a junior - I had to make do with design instead.

  • Umm Ive just had a SQT session cancelled for 13 Oct, as Lvv have screwed up, they say that they have dropped a bollock and double booked coz track league is starting

  • I've just had 6 SQT sessions cancelled (Oct 13 right through November) and it's not looking good. LVV say there is still SQT on Sunday evening at 8:00pm. After a 65 mile club ride on Sunday this is not going to work at all. It's a bit of a shambles to say the least.

  • Here's more news

    Women’s Track League Accreditation Programme

In order to maximise the potential numbers of women that can access track league, following in the success of the TL accreditation programmes held in April and May, Lee Valley Velopark is running a track league accreditation programme for women and girls aged 16+ at 18:45 – 20:00 on Tuesdays 7th – 28th October. The sessions are directed at women who are experienced track riders, but aren’t yet Indoor track accredited. There are 16 places available and the programme costs £80. Riders who are already accredited on Newport, Glasgow or Manchester do not need to take this course. Riders need to call 0845 6770603 to book, there is no online booking. Riders must complete all 4 weeks of the programme.

  • What day+time were the SQTs that you've had cancelled?

  • Think about it, Have you tried getting through the tunnel to get to Stratford by 6 for a decent warm up before 7? If you are not through before 4 then forget it. 8 is ideal. On a good day I can do it in 40 minutes: on a bad day? 3 hours!

  • Ugh. Train / tube is going to be a bloody nightmare too with a bike bag. Won't be able to take rollers unless I get some kind of trolley.

  • The Lee Valley winter league will be opening up registration within the next 24 hours.
