Looks good!
From my little experience:
- The Surly Rear Hanger is cool,
- To get the right chainline with the Pompino was a bit tricky for me, but plenty of useful information on this forum,
- Love my Schwalbe Kojak tyres 35mm, comfy quick and effective even in rainy conditions...
- the Specialized rack is simple and effective - and acts as an ass saver if you do not have mudguards. I am considering to install mudguards but not sure I can with the Kojaks 35mm in fact. I have to check that.
Enjoy the build!

Chainline!
You don't say what model chainset/bb. If it's an older, squaretaper BB you can get something going with a shorter BB perhaps.

Couldn't fit mudguards on my v3 with 35c resist nomads.

Cheers dudes!
So on the chainline front I'd originally planned to use an FC7600 crankset & UN-55 BB, but a SRAM Rival chainset came up locally on ebay for silly cheap, so I've gone for that.
Mr _B mentioned that the same GXP crankset with the chainring on the inside worked for him, so hopefully it'll be ok with the Halo freewheel too.
Yep, the on-one site mentions the clearance allows 32c tyres with mudguards. I ended up getting some Vittoria Cross XN Pro II in that size. Hoping they'll squeeze in under some guards.
One small problem is that the V4 forks aren't drilled all the way through at the crown. They're only drilled at the rear to mount mudguards, but I want to fit a lower cable guide for the front brake, so that's another little job to do!
But the frame's currently with my LBS to get the BB/Headset pressed in, and they're also building my wheels up at the mo. I missed the post at the weekend, but I think the rest of the parts are waiting for me now so I'm hoping I can get this built up during the week and start exploring on Saturday!

Nice one! What's the width of your rims? Wonder if the width of the TB14s will allow knobbly 35c tyres?..

I'm riding Mavic A319 rims which iirc are 25mm wide.

My final parts delivery arrived at work today - hopefully getting the frameset back from the LBS today or tomorrow, then I can get on with building!

UGH. Started building this afternoon, stitched myself up by not realising/thinking ahead to get new (single) chainring bolts, and by being unaware of the canti post-length shenanigans, so washers and bolts are required before I can finish :(
On the bright side it looks fucken sweet already though I'm not posting any pictures till it's "done"

Still tweaking the fit/position etc, so it's essentially together, though definitely not done. There's quite a few issues that will need to be addressed over the next few months as funds allow.
The biggest of these are: The toe overlap is savage so I'll look into 165mm cranks (currently 172.5) and forks with a bit more rake (possibly carbon too);
and the rear needs a Mini-V as despite what On-One say, there's very little room for a canti on the back, which is exasperated by the lack of a built in hanger. Also I keep knocking the arms whilst clipping in.I love it despite the snags though, and the difference in scenery on my commute has me kicking myself for not getting a cross bike sooner!

looks real nice. what is the weight of build? just out of curiosity to compare to estimated.
It's been about a year since I bought a bike, and my current commuter is getting a little old.
Amongst my riding buds there's been talk of doing some cross this winter, so I'm retiring the fixie for now in favour of something that's a little more comfortable on the road, and capable of going off the road, without being too expensive.
So the boring and obvious answer is a Pompino. They're cheaps ey? I can swap a lot of bits over from the current bike to help with the cost, and I'm having my existing cheap-but-dependable hubs rebuilt onto some disproportionately nice rims by my LBS.
Very little is gonna happen in this thread for a week or so, but in the meantime I thought I'd stick up a build list in case anyone fancies doling out some advice.
If there's any ideas on where I might be able to improve the list, along the lines of "better price for that part" or "better part for that price", I would love to hear it. A lot of that list was picked on the basis of stuff that doesn't look too shit for the money, or on the basis of being black.
Although I have no idea what constitutes a "good value" headset, and I think compressionless braking would be cool but I can't work out which Jagwire kit I need? Is it possible to just buy the outers?
Oh and if anyone wants to punt some second hand stuff my way, I'm interested in that too :)
Cheers!
Mat
