  • Built myself a new commuter. Had had it with the pedal strike on my previous converted road bike commuter. Also sought more comfort with the 45mm Nomad tires.

All good so far, though the bite of these brakes needs some getting used to.

  • You might need to build something more appropriate to beat 190.07mph

  • Very functional. What's the frame?

  • It's a second hand cyclocross frameset, got it without logos so no idea about the manufacturer.

  • ^ Looks fun!

  • Took the baby seat off (and hopefully uploaded the photo the right way up this time) and rode this into work for the last couple of days.

I had to fiddle with the limits and adjust the gears a bit, but think I've got them dialled in now. Quite a large, aggressive fit, but this bike is intended for some fast road riding, hopefully in the hills of Saporro next year.

A couple of things bugging me. The cranks are a bit on the long side, so I'll keep my eye out for some shorter ones (170 should be fine) and the saddle colour. I should probably find a Prologo nago without the yellow on it. Other than that I'm happy with it.

  • ^ Dibs, nice build!

  • What does a 'check need, other than a third bottle cage mount ... Anything cages or the like?

  • Third set of bottle mounts, NDS seat stay pump mount and at one point I was going to get some hourglass eyelets on the front of the fork blades about half way between the canti and midblade eyelets

  • I had to look up hourglass eyelets. For a new front rack?

Pump pegs are a good call.

  • Stops me having to use pclips with the nitto rack I have, although I've still not got around to having another go at a rando bag so it'll be a long time off...

  • Lots of nice stuff came with the mail today. some hubs, spokes, nipples, rims... I'm ready to build wheels

  • My new frame, finally utilising my DA 7700 groupset thats been hanging around for a while. I just need a stem and bars, but being a novice with threadless headsets im stuck, ideally i would like a stem/bar combo from the late 90s..
    Any suggestions?

  • Stem/Bar combo => Cinelli Integralter

Or if you want separates, ITM Millennium is pretty understated.

  • Thanks will look around, I like the look of the Cinelli. Not cheap though im sure?

  • Cinelli would look fantastic.

  • Agree on both the above. Also consider 3t mutant or tig welded steel, e.g. Itm eclypse ahead.

  • I have a 110mm 3t mutant available for sale too...

  • I've decided I need two track bikes, one for the UK and one for Switzerland. So I've taken my Pre Cursa:

and put that back into something approaching its original spec, save for the saddle and the wheels, which I've replaced with Planet-X tubulars. They've got a brake track which I'll never use, but on the upside they were cheap. So the Pre Cursa now looks like this:

The Pre Cursa will live in London, and so I'll take this out to Switzerland:

    Spec:

    Dolan DF4 frame and seatpost
    Alpina Wing forks
Home-made wheels, Yoeleo 50&60mm rims, Powertap track hub
    Dura Ace cranks, USE chainring
    Arione CX saddle
    PRO Vibe 7S track bars
    SOYO track grips
    PRO Vibe 7S stem

The 105 pedals will be replaced with Ultegra metal-bodied pedals when it's in Switzerland.

  • Why not have the df4 here? Or are you spending more time over there?

  • I spend more time over there, but spend a lot more time on track in Switzerland than I do in the UK, thanks to Swiss tracks being far easier to get onto than the tracks over here. Also, both bikes will be living at the velodromes on hooks, and I feel far safer leaving the DF4 in Aigle than I would in London.

  • Falconvitesse, +1 for something like the ITM Eclypse ahead stem, would really suit your lovely Argos. It deserves something nice. :P

  • New Superbe chainring, 52:19-18, i think its pretty much done.
