Don't worry too much about the fastest possible SSD for 2010 MacBook Pro - internal bus speeds on the motherboard are not up to scratch and read/write times won't be any different (PRO vs EVO).
But definitely do the SSD upgrade. Start-up times can be measured in seconds and app launching and saving is generally snappier. And MAX OUT the RAM.Unfortunately your render times are unlikely to change - that's all processor grunt.
Oh hold on.. Macbook Pro you mean? Defo get a SSD... world of difference.
