Oh right. Yeah I'm totally with you. For me forward facing, campag -long, chromed dropouts are the fixed gear holy grail if you ever want to run 'guards.
Over in the hhsb thread 'conversion' is still a dirty word though... as if they're not just a bunch of diy hybrids #sickburn

Ah, that wasn't meant to be in response to your 531 suggestion, I was just alluding to the benefits of semi-horizontal dropouts removing the need for seasonal bikes...
