There must be a million things to do with the empty tubes.
I keep my torch in one, and by wrapping a bit of inner tube round the torch to make it a snug fit in the tube I can use it as a diffuser. By sliding the torch in or out of the tube makes a great difference in the amount of light it casts.
Just remove the labels first! Easily good enough to read by with a reasonably powerful torch.
