Oh, I misunderstood your previous point.
I agree with what you say. Nowadays, customers are more likely to get a nicely crafted frame with a less flashy paint scheme, craftsmanship is much more significant compared to a couple decades ago, when builders (and customers) were happy enough with lugged frames and a sweet paint job (maybe a few details here and there too).
What I mean is that if a frame builder today put together a plain lugged track frame exactly the same as that, everyone would be "meh" but because its some classic brand its amazing?
This for me is bike porn, look at the details, the craftsmanship. The skill its taken and the outcome is stunning which is the whole point IMO
