I need a longer chain

I have got a chain on my bike that is 95 links long, 96 with the removable chain link, I need one more link putting on, would i need to buy a longer chain and shorten it or could i add a link. Thanks

You can't buy just one or two links, if that's what you're asking. Your friendly LBS (local bike shop) might have some spare from fitting chains. If you post what your current chain is, someone here might be local to you and have a couple of links spare, most people keep the spare lengths.
