• Use GLS, PostNL won't do such big packages, but they've also have messed up some package I've sent international completely.. GLS has almost never let me down and they've got some delivery points in Rotterdam.

Thanks nuts. That is great. Now I just have to navigate the GLS phone system, in Dutch!

  • Actually, no GLS will not send. Nothing leaves the Netherlands this big for a personal customer, supposedly!

  • I'm trying to get a reasonable quote to send a complete bike from Manchester to London, I'm getting ridiculous quotes at the moment, can anybody recommend a good courier service please?

    Cheers

  • This thread is your friend;

You don' t have any friends that own a company? If you now someone with a kvk number then shipping to England will cost you only 40 euros with DHL..

Check http://www.cheapcargo.com/ for the exact prices..

  • cheers guy's got a good offer from TNT, so using them, I did try Quantum Leap but they were busy, but good shout dan :)

  • I want to ship some bikes from Berlin to Ireland. Getting old bike boxes is not a problem (covered by another thread) but figuring out how/with whom to post is.

Deutsche Post/DHL are quoting Eu120 per bike, for example

Any knowledge or contacts super welcome.

You can try this company. I've shipped some stuff from Denmark... They are also doing air freight. Its in Hamburg Though... Hope that helps

  • @Mserpa -- thanks a lot. Anyone else reading this, your best bet from Berlin is Tomba Express. Get a box from one of the better shops, e.g. Radspannerei near Kotbusser Tor (super dudes, nice shop), pack your bike and book collection. DHL will charge up to 100 euros. Tomba abt half that.

  • Hello lfgssers,

I am heading to france in august and already have a few bikes at a mates house, and wouldn't mind bringing a few back.

Oversize luggage for bikes on ryanair/easyjet is £50.

Would anyone know if it's cheaper to post to London or pay the luggage cost?

If so, does anyone have any good experiences with int couriers?

    thanks!

  • My other half works for a courier company and they've done some work for other LFGSS types in the past - and cheaper than you'd be quoted for DHL.

PM me if you want deets.

  • How much to Oz Poots, any idea?
    Hiya!

  • WICKSIE!!

DM me what it is/where it's going from and to and I'll ask 'im indiors

  • Thanks for the message pootsmanuva

Do any of the couriers offer insurance?

Looking for cover of about £650

  • 9 days to reply, I'm slack. Cheers Poots.

I'm just after a Pompino frame to be shipped to Melbourne. Haven't found one yet but I'm thinking it might still be cheaper to get it from Laandin.
    Cheers pet!

  • If it's just a frame, would it be cheaper to sell the current frame and buy a new one from On-One/PX in their next sale and let them worry about transport?

  • Hi - looking to ship two bikes (touring bike and a mountain bike) from N1 London to 8008 Zurich, Switzerland. Done a search and found http://www.interparcel.com/ and http://www.excess-baggage.com/ that can ship but for a XL bike box (195cm x 24cm x 117cm) http://www.cyclomonster.com/cart/cardboard-bicycle-packaging-shipping-transport-box?gclid=CITqoZbc2cMCFVTKtAodOhUArw#.VNszyZR_tX0 it's about £100/ea. Anyone know any cheaper ways or other startups that just sprung up in the last 5 months since the last post in this thread perhaps?

  • cheapest way to receive a frameset from USA?

  • ^What Apollo said. Anyone got any tips?

  • Anyone got any solid recommendations on what service to use from UK to EUROPE?

Loads of options, but I'm wary to use one blind.

Happy to box it up, etc. Prefer one where I can drop the box at a local depot/postoffice/shop, rather than have to wait around at home on a work day.

  • Someone who knows what is cheapest to send a frame from UK to sweden ?

frame and forks in a tight box,

would be grateful for the quick response :)
