I'd rather they put a lane each side and centred the road.
That design forces one direction of cyclists to cross an oncoming lane to get to it.
Plus it will create this large pedestrian area on one side, improving shop and building access there... but relatively being a detriment to the other side of the road.
To me it feels wrong... like it should be more balanced and not require cycle traffic to cross the carriageway to go in the direction of traffic.
The only time that makes sense is if the street is one-way.
