I don't think it looks shit but I think it will look out of place on this bike. I have 32 radial on my road bike and that looks great but it's a 90s frame so it's okay.
I'll go with 3x and 4x but what about white benotto bar tape with the black saddle. Is that going to cause outrage.

4x not too sharp for 40h? not sure, but why not normal, 3x front and rear.
true though, it would look *out of place.
*black saddle white tape is very pro and therefore very acceptable/favourable.

White tape won't stay white for a long. I think radial for the front wheel will look like a low rider's car wheel ! It is going to be a great build

Just on the train coming back from my trip to Argos cycles in Bristol. Really nice guys and really helpful. Was difficult to choose what shade of awesome to have on it but you'll have to wait a while for the surprise. It's going to take so long that we'll all be on space bikes when it's ready.

These bar plugs had arrived when I got home.
Now I have to build the wheels and polish up the parts in time for the frame.

Lovely bar plugs. Often overlooked but one of the best bits about builds personally.

Indeed if I could find a few pairs of these I'd be over the moon:

Hubs off to get built up into super strong wheels
Stem off to Chromers for a new look
Keeping the badge looking weathered though as it looks great as is.
The guys at the chromers insisted on the Teddy being in this shot
Bargain price of £35 + VAT and they do a great job too.

I can see what you mean. Nice to see the finer touches with this project like the bar ends and leaving the Cinelli stem badge original. Look forward to seeing it all built up.

Picked this up from London Chroming today - £45. Think they fastened the badge the wrong way round though. It's now made the bars look shabby. Will have to polish them up to match

Really enjoying this build, lovely job. Going to need some chroming work myself soon – looking at the pic above I take it you'd recommend London Chroming?

Will you correct the badge? It's fucking with my feng shui...

Where'd you source these?

i vote screwing it the right way around, but leave it like it is.. it's such a small non-obvious little detail of its patina and history that just cries class and elegance.

Definitely recommend them. They've changed name as the son has taken over the business. Prices are reasonable and it's a quick turnaround.

Not going to renew the badge. Just turn it around and keep it looking old. Although you can buy replica badges on eBay if you need one.

I also had a delivery of NOS benotto bar tape. 1 x white and 1 x yellow. The white doesn't look as nice as the yellow as time hasn't been kind to it. The yellow will match the decals so I think I might go that route.

Next task is sorting out the cranks. The anodizing is a bit ill so that's gotta come off.
Oven Pride is the best. £4 at Morrisons. Also available at other supermarkets.

don't do radial. looks shit, especially since it's a "restauration".
3x, no alternatives
