Don't want the Thomson bolts though. Allen key size is very small and they round off easily, are there 4/5mm bolt heads that would fit?
-
• #96578
They round off easily if using a worn hex-key and/or too much torque
-
• #96579
Stem was second hand so bolts are already rounded. May just buy the thomson ones and be careful in future

yeah i hate the standard thomson bolts too (i have to keep a silly allen key with me now) i know that the spec is 0.8 thread x 18mm length for the x2/x4, pop into a builders merchant and ask if they have that, with a 4/5mm bolt head.

Older model Rotor Agilis cranks have an adjustment bolt that you are advised not to remove. Apparently you would have to send the cranks back to the factory to refit it if you were stupid enough to do so.
Anybody know if this really is impossible to refit by your self? I'm not too ham fisted and I'd like to try, but I'd like to know if someone have done it before.
(I don't have the cranks with me yet, but I'd like to change the color of that little red thing when I get them)

do you know if non oem Thomson bolts will fit into the faceplate?
-
• #96586
Yep mine has standard 4mm bolt heads in the faceplate as the thomson ones got rounded off. Same ones as you find in any other stem. Does look a bit odd though with the clamp design of an X2

just get your sharpie out.

Thomson changed the bolts to prevent failure resulting from over torquing. Just get a cheap torque key and torque bolts to 5nm the stem holds just fine and you're not risking the face plate cracking.

They're pretty lovely to ride. The gf's one is spectacular. Need to change the fork though.

Asking for a friend, Anyone know is it possible to replace a dropout on an alu frame? its cracked
-
• #96592
I was going to bid on this but then got scared when it jumped from next to nothing up to £500 ages before the end of the auction. If that was your tactic, then well done.

Don't have a build thread so sharing here, that long since I took a half decent photo of a bike I forgot about lining bars up. Ah well.

Cheers! It's a great bike, such a pleasure to ride. Really worked out well. I hope ncjlee is happy with the replacement as I can only imagine it must be a fantastic frame to replace this!

Now that I think about it, what I really want to do is strip off the anodizing and polish them.
That will take the red off too, I just hope there's nothing too sensitive inside the adjustment mechanism. -

This is my KHS flite 100 commuter. Need to find some leather to recover my Selle Italia Flite, need to fit rack and maybe brake -

Very nice, master.
I have a white 100 frame that I no longer need, but I think they're solid and a great value. -

Don't suppose you know what rims these are?

Look like Zipp 404, confirmed by the pedalroom page.
