I'm assuming you mean you have stripped the threads in a crank you want to remove so you can't use a normal crank puller.
You can still pull it using something like this.

Great! That means the crank could still be used as normal but with the robocop thingy^ for all ectractions. Any idea what the vital stats are, as there are a lot of variants (esp when you consider other brands)?

Worst part is the extractor does work for Sq taper, I just needed to pop the washer off first....If I'd bothered to take a little time.

With heat alloy expands more than steel. You can sometimes pour boiling water over the taper in the arm and lever it off with a suitable tool, ie cone spanner, big screwdriver or your mum's big serving spoon.

If you goto amazon/ebay there are a heap of alternate makes. I've taken the vital stats of the crank (inner/outer dimension) but now to find the most affordable one as they range from £25 -£250....

Have you ever managed to do this successfully? You personally I mean, not a buddy or your cousin etc...
BTW steel is an alloy of iron, carbon 'n' shit.

These things are motorcycle tools so if you know anyone who tinkers with them you may have a lead to a borrow.I got one off ebay for about £5 delivered (was last year I think) '2 arm puller' would be a good search term

I was concerned about the width of the central part that presses against that actual BB axle (whilst the rest pulls the crank off (oooh er)).

The centre of mine is a 130mm bolt with a 12mm diameter and tapered at the end.
No issues with it fitting into the crank. -

I did this last week, not paying enough attention removing cheap cranks, and mashed the threads. After much swearing (and the gentle persuasion of a hammer) I managed to get the puller to thread into the crank and successfully remove the crank arm, but I'm not looking forward to ever removing it again.
This is why I can't have nice things.

Made an expensive error by trying to use a brand new Park tools CCP-44 to remove a Campag pista sq. taper crank from a bb. I've not used it in so long, I forgot the tool was bought for octalink duties and have threaded the crank arm. Is there any way to salvage the arm or bin it?
