  • anyone want a £60 apple store voucher for £50?

  • I have had enough of my still new MBPr, you might recall that I reported issues with it overheating and randomly crashing even during very light session. Guess what? It can't even handle a word document smoothy now... it hasn't crashed as often since their have suposedly fixed it at the apple store about a month ago, but a new issue has developed - when it has gone to sleep and I need it wake it up, the black screen comes on (you knwo the difference between a screen that is off and a black one...) with just the arrow cursor on the screen, nothing else, it doesn't respond to any commend, and it can take anywhere between a few second to over a min for it to wake up... anyone knows possible reasons? Never seen this before...

I am gonna insist this time for them look at hardware fault... good that I plan to have a long holiday from any computer screen as of Tue...

  • kernel panic... say no more...

  • Sorry, was at work and didnt have the exact details.

    To confirm:

    • iMac 27inch
    • 2011 Model (Apologies, incorrect year in my previous post. Was bought December 2011)
    • Processor: 3.4Ghz Intel Core Duo i7
    • Memory: 16GB 1333MHz DDR3
    • Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048MB
    • 1TB HD + 250GB SSD
    • AppleCare covered until December 2014

Will be packed in the original Apple box, and shipping box.

Primarily used for work and home purposes. Much loved and cared for.

I should also note, it was bought in Australia, and shipped over when
I moved with my wife. Applecare is international and will be honoured
here in the UK. UK power cable will need to be purchased - currently
still using the Aus cable with an adapter.

Now that we're moving back, I honestly can't be bothered with the
hassle to ship it back as much as I love this thing.

As I mentioned previously, will be available in September. Will
completely wipe the whole system clean and leave it with OS X 10.9.xx
    Mavericks.

Looking for around £800, located in West London.

Would also be open to swapping for an 2011> Mac Pro with similar
    specs.

Any questions, shoot me a PM.

    Blockquote

    Hi all,

This iMac is now up for grabs and will be available in a 10 days time. If anyone is keen, please PM me. As quoted above, looking for £800, pick up only from West London (Notting Hill).

I should also note that this is the iMac with a CD/DVD drive.

    Cheers,
    Anthony

  • 1TB + 256GB Solid State Drive

  • Any interest before I slap it on gumtree?

  • Is there a way in iTunes on a mac to select all of one type of file? I always import CDs as apple lossless which it turns out doesn't play on my new HTC phone. Instead of selecting every single thing in my library and creating 2 copies of everything, I'd like to just select the lossless stuff and create an mp3 version. Any help to avoid having to trawl through thousands of albums would be great!

  • I think you can do it with a smart playlist.

  • View by songs, right click on 'Artist' or 'Album' and try sorting by bit rate. The lossless ones should have a different bit rate to mp3s.

  • Oh, haha, or sort by 'kind'.

  • So I'm thinking of getting rid of my PC and using a macbook air as my primary PC.

When I'm using this at home on the desk what would be the best way to hook up to a monitor, speakers, mouse and keyboard? A port replicator or is there a macbook air dock?

Also can I keep my itunes music (around 70gb) on an external hard drive and use another external hard drive for my pictures?

I'd like to also keep this all neat and tidy if possible!?

  • The expensive but neatest option is to get the 27inch thunderbolt monitor. It connects using a single cable for everything (screen + port replication). Spendy though.

  • also, it doesn't do sound port replication (though does have its own internal speakers). if you want to run your sound through something else you need to plug it into the laptop.

  • Or have Bluetooth speakers.

  • Can an Apple TV provide a wireless connection to the monitor?
Bluetooth solar keyboard and wireless mouse from Logitech?
Airport express for speakers and printer.

  • I've pondered that too - would apple tv be good enough to run a monitor? What about latency?

  • Its not

  • Just been informed I'm due an upgrade on my phone, should I be waiting to see if a new iphone gets released within the next couple of weeks or just get a 5s?

The only "Improvement" I've seen rumoured for the new iphone is a larger screen, which if i'm honest will only cause me issues fitting it into my sexy skinny jeans. #latfh

  • wait a few weeks,

  • Announcement Next tuesday... prob wont be out for a month after that?
    New mac mini?
@spenceey giving up gaming? Grabbing a second hand ACD off gumtree would be my advice..

  • Wait 3 weeks for the release

  • Details released on the 9th, and rumour has it there will be a phablet iphone, and a skinny iphone air for your jeans.

  • Wait for release, rumours says battery capacity time will double

  • Anyone got a MacBook for sale? A friend's looking... TIA...
