From what I remember of Birkbeck (I used to play pool there as they had more pool tables than at my uni), you just walk in.
I had the vilest cup of coffee of my life at Birkbeck, the kind that sends you running to the loo as fast as your legs will carry you, sweating and retching the whole way. God I miss being a student.
