Have a bunch of brass door hinges that have clumps of oil based paint all over them. I put them in a pot of white spirit over night but this barely softened the paint at all.
Is putting them in the oven a bad idea? Or blasting them with a heat gun? Would like them to retain their otherwise shiny properties.
Leave them in boiling water (cover them with boiling water) for a while then let them cool until you can handle them. That'll soften the paint then scrape off with something like a finger nail or credit card sort of stiffness.
