Winter bike all wrapped up - Kinesis Racelight T2

  • So this has been in the works for a little bit and today it was ready to roll!

    Kinesis T2 Frame
    Columbus Hiver Fork
    Shimano 105 5800 11 speed group (52/36, 11/28)
Chris King R45 > Ceramic Open Pro wheels
Exposure Strada with the piggy-back rear light
    Topeak frame pump
Other bits from the parts box

    10kg as it sits

  • Very cool. Much drop.

    5800 looks real classy.

  • Dynamo/Revo/RedEye and it'd be perfect.

  • Shhweeet!

  • Super aggressive position for a winter trainer. I am a little scared to think what your summer bike looks like!

    V. Impressive set up.

  • lol at that seat post. literally laughed.

  • Good luck reaching your bottles.

  • How tall are you? Did you buy the right size? :P #somuchpost

  • What bars?
Nice curve on drops but flat tops.

  • awesome. wheels are beaut too

  • It's the largest frame they do... which is still a little shorter than I'd like (59.something cm top tube). Drop ain't an issue for me really - I've got long arms and I'm relatively flexible. Ideally I'd have 21cm head tube, 61cm top tube and a 140mm stem.

The bars are 3T Ergosum, great shape which I used on the race bike for a long while until I changed over to some Zipp trad bends.

  • Based on the inputs you've kindly provided and my detailed calculations, you're 9'8" (with leeway of +/- 3.753')

    Am I correct?

  • HA! I knew this looked familiar. Was riding behind you all the way up finchley road the other day. Mighty fine looking machine indeed. Looked perfectly comfortable on it too for those that are puzzled by crazy geo.

In my streets? God that was a terrible ride - right up to the North Circular for dinner only to get a phone call to say I had to go back down into town back to work, then ride all the fucking way back again.

6"7 actually, but long limbed (94.5cm saddle height from centre BB to top of saddle)

  • Same height as me, but such a totally different set-up.

  • Lovely looking winter bike. I've always wanted one of these. Out of interest; What size tyres are you running? Also how come you switched the fork?

  • 28 contis (they come up pretty narrow) but there's load of space.

I bought it as a frame only, and this fork seemed like the best quality option on the market

  • I have to ask, but what happen with the Tonic? I'd have though the disc make a perfect winter bike once you adapt it (especially with 5800 R685 full hydraulic).

It's being built up for the cross season this year as I plan on racing as much as possible. It's a nightmare having to switch tyres every week! Chances are I'll go to BB7's or HY/RDs as I've got a cheapy 105 group to go on it.

  • HY/RD defintely, especially during cross where the auto aligned pads and dual piston enabling even pads wear.
