'letting her be free'
Oh ffs :-/
Put collars on your housemates instead, with "I am a moron" printed on them.

Is the cat very friendly? Does it allow other people to pick it up?
Maybe a collar of diabetic do not feed?

Am looking after a friends cat and so far the car has enjoyed two rides in the car. Brilliant thing is that the cat doesn't need to be in a basket, if you give her 10 minustes of sniffinf the inside of the car see is fine. When driving she likes to either sit on the dash board or on the seat back looking out of the windows.
Currently on day 3 of the cat sulk. When I finally took the cat back to mine, I let it in the flat to go and sniff to its hearts content before bringing in the cat goodies such as a litter tray. In the space of less than three minutes cat finds mouse in the kitchen. Cat proceeds to claw mouse apart and by the time I get in the kitchen there is blood, gore and a screaming mouse with a cat looking very contented.
So I clean the cat with a wet cloth as she has blood on her, one small mouse and I was amazed at the amount of blood and gore. Was also concerned about getting blood carried on the cats paws around the flat. So cleaned cat, cat was not happy about this and was very vocal. Then proceed to cleaned up the kitchen floor, with newspaper of the gore then bleach neat on the rest.
Now the bloody furball is in a sulk with me. She didn't eat for 24 hours, which is rare for her as she usually grazes no set meal time. When she did eat, she ate lots and threw up in to her food. She has a mix of wet food and nuggets. So I replaced all the food and washed out the bowls.
Don't think she is eating as much as she does usually, and seems very grumpy with me. Haven't allowed her on the bed/or in the bedroom which she is not happy about, but other times she has stopped over the rules have been the same.

How about just 'this cat has tasted human flesh. Do not approach'?

Maybe you need to ask yourself what the cat wants?

The biggest bank in Russia is loaning cats to mortgage customers for good luck in their new homes.
Sberbank seems to be capitalising on the Russian superstition that it brings fortune for a cat to walk into a new home first.
Customers are invited to choose from 10 cats, including Apricot the ginger tabby, Toffee the Siamese and a hairless Sphynx cat called Kuzma. -

@lynx was thinking that, but then don't want a vet giving her insulin if found.. Gahh.. Might just put my number and keep an eye on her/not let her out much, like normal. Getting cold now anyway..

A a guess, not to see some vague random guy freaking out, I may have screamed, when she wanted to be thanked for the gift/good job. Yes I screamed/called out as I was a little freaked out and though the cat had injured herself and that meant vets and explaining to the owner what happened, that your cat got injured while in my care in my flat or I can't even look after your cat I'm that useless. Also then cleaning the blood off her, which she didn't like. Then shutting her in the bathroom, with litter and water but no food for about 45 minutes while I cleaned up.
But she can go where she likes, apart from the bedroom/bed, indoors and out.

Well, after three days of keeping the cats in I've let them out again.
During that time Higgs hid in the laundry room, and eventually started peeing in a plastic box in their - I'm guessing she didn't want to interact with the other cats to the degree that once she'd found a box to jump in then that met her standards.
James didn't stop yowling to be let out the whole time.
Tesla was just Tesla.
When I let them out this morning James jumped off the balcony onto the roof of the car and ran off, Higgs jumped onto the car and spent a long time just looking around, and Tesla stayed on the balcony.
I suspect (but have no evidence) that James has gone off to Thief of James house, which makes me cross.
Friends have heard Thief of James calling for him/calling him in- he's not their cat.
So, I am now looking for someone who will look after James, possibly for good - away from here.
I don't believe that the cat thieves should profit from this, but I don't want to make James unhappy.
I'll try my parents first, but I suspect that they won't want the complication.

Rudolph.
Beef plus heart. -

you should follow james and be there standing next to him when theif of james opens his door to let him in
BUSTED -

That would mean jumping over his fence.
I was thinking about putting a collar on him with his/my address on it. Not that I think that would achieve much.

That is sad :-(
Can't help think that thief of James would be less keen on him, once he got older and the vet bills started piling up. Hope you find a solution soon.

it's not fair for you to have to loose your cat, it would be great if you do have to find someone to look after him that they can be visitable. Do you reckon that the Thief of James would just thief another cat of yours?

@Dammit sorry if I missed this bit - but have you done anything like that yet? A note attached to collar that just clearly says "PLEASE DO NOT FEED ME I HAVE A HOME" and if that doesn't have any effect "PLEASE DO NOT STEAL ME". I know the "please" is redundant but people respond better to perceived politeness.

James always comes back here for food- pops in twice per day, eats, runs away again.
Thief of James house is ~25 metres away.
can we have a cat ride?
