Have seen quite a few of these, particularly where roadway is constricted by works.
Would not be surprised if these were now mandatory at sites that potentially expose cyclists to increased risk of injury.
Positive step to remind drivers not to be dicks.

Like this?
I make sure I take primary (and then a bit) once I go past a sign like that.

Love these signs.

Fairly common around town, I've seen quite a few, always near road works.

There's this one on the Menai Bridge which I quite like.

official
I'm not sure these signs exist in the TSRGD, so they're not official as such

Specific Traffic Restriction Orders can be put in place, including temporary ones around roadworks, events, etc. IIRC if it's a mandatory requirement (white and red) rather than advisory (blue and white) then it would need to be specified in the TRO and, if so, would be official. I don't think that temporary restrictions, derived from a risk assessment or other localised need, would have to be limited to those prescribed by the TSRGD in order to be an official restriction.

No they are official not but should be.
There are some cycling groups who have put forward a suggestion that these become included in the next revision of the highway codeAnyone care to design what such a sign would look like?

My recollection is hazy, at best.

The existing No Overtaking sign already does the job of instructing that one vehicle shouldn't overtake another and thus the example from the Menai Bride with the exception could be adopted.

True. Except bicycles by bicycles is ok though I would prefer a specific new one the expressly forbids overtaking cyclists where it may be risky.
The current sign:shows cars overtaking cars. Drivers overtake cyclists often when there are central solid white lines which also mean no overtaking

Drivers will overtake into oncoming traffic, through someone's front room, around the moon if it meant they didn't have to remove their fat feet from the accelerator.

There is one on Upper Richmond Road thru what will soon be Putney skyscraper city ...

Aye lad and a lovely bloke he is as well.
There is a road sign down Bevis Marks that has been placed approaching road works.
Fairly 'official' looking white on red.
NO OVERTAKING CYCLISTS
I 've not seen this sign before and cant find any images of it ..
Can anyone construct a road sign and stick it where they feel appropriate.
Its not 'cyclists stay back' sort of advice is it ?
