Thanks, Io. If you have a good feeling about it, that's good. However, I want to have someone see the bike in person or see a photo. I don't believe him. Don't feel any need to involve Bill.
Is the only reason he had this bike for so long because he was storing it? If we have a place to store it, then I'd say the loaner should be temporary, certainly not for two years ...
