  • Thanks to @DoktorPepe for the heads up on Volcano.Had a wander up there yesterday and picked up a bag of the Summer Blend for the moka pot. A bit fruity for my tastes but will need to grab some of the Engine Oil next time before the weather gets too cold.

  • It's been a while since I tried any of their coffees, but have heard many good things. It's always nice to try some alternatives, especially if it's local to you.
Engine Oil sounds like it will properly charge you up for the day :)

  • Anyone made an aeropress brewstand? Looking at the prices online and I'm sure I could make one cheaper.

  • If you can and can include a neat way to store all the aeropress gubbins with it I'd buy one!

  • ^ It's fiddly isn't it. Don't mind it at home, but taking it travelling is a mass. So far the best I've used is a tote bag with everything rattling around in it, far from ideal.

Was playing with the idea of stitching something in leather but it'd be a lot leather for something I'd only use occasionally

  • Ideally i'd like an aeropress brewstation that can live on the kitchen worktop and stores all the bits and bobs at the back or something. There's nothing like that available that I've seen online. A carry case type thing for travelling would be good too.

  • Passed Soho Bikes today (Berwick Street) so thought I'd pop in and see what it's all about.

Quite a nice cafe at the front, did me a nice flat white. Worth checking out.

  • Friend of mine had an Aeropress travel bag with him camping last week said he got it from hasbean back in the day. I used an il'soigneur musette bag.

For light travel brew GSI java dripper much moar tiny.

  • I keep everything in a cake tin. Porlex inside the aeropress & enough space for a bag of beans too. Not sure about a brew station, surely it's either on the scales or on your cup?

  • Yeah I thought that, I recently went to do a pourover on a brew station then thought hang on... I'd have to weigh my water into the kettle first. Bit pointless.

  • Charlie Mills coffee are supplying us with coffee for our track day prizes - They are cycling mad and even have a pic of Robert Millar on one of their espresso blends - They do mail order if anyone's interested in trying a new roaster - http://www.charliemillscoffee.com

I haven't tried their roasted Doyo, but I used the same bean from the same supplier (somehow I know), and it was amazing! Hope theirs is as good. Packaging looks great.

  • That's the one my friend has.

  • Grinders – the new Baratza Encore (£140) is decent, only been using it a few weeks and only for filter but it's meant to be good for espresso. Weighing beans in and grounds out, you only lose about 0.2g which is pretty impressive. You could easily adjust from filter to espresso and back again if you remember the numbers.

Bit of a dredge, but any update on this? Or has anyone else used one?

Am considering getting one. Mainly for poor over and aeropress brews.

  • just bought a jura micro 1 for the new office :)

  • Anyone want one of these? Free* to a good home.

*or a couple of quid to the forum.

  • It's been great for filter, no problems at all. Definitely worth it.

  • I can only assume a reeeep but is this serious? http://www.geargrinder.co.uk/

  • People from Berlin -

If in Kreuzkölln, go to Katie's Blue Cat for coffee & cake!

  • In Herne Hill there is a new place serving Volcano coffee in the little yard by the hardwear store in the pedestrianised bit. I've not been but its probably your best bet - everywhere else is pretty awful, except the lido cafe, who use Allpress beans.

Nowhere in HH sells decent beans though. A constant first world thorn in my side.

Blue Turtle Oasis, up by Loughborough Junction Station, sells Volcano beans. The guys who run the coffee stand in the Sunday market at Herne Hill also.

  • To drink or for beans?
