im sure i saw one on ebay too but it was almost as dear as the whole headset. i'd say contact campagnolo explaining the situation and try your luck? i know their crown races are tight as my fork has an undersize crown and the race was still cracked by somebody. http://www.campagnolo.com/UK/en/contact_us
Is it a awful situation to run it with a crack in it? i suppose it depends on the bearing set up, are they loose balls? i just ask because some headsets have a crown race already with a slit in it. -

I think the races with slits are for use with cartridge bearings. The Campy headset I have uses caged balls, so needs a continuous race. It's only the flange that holds the seal which has been cracked (I suspect the LBS used a tool for a 1&1/8th" race, stressing the outer flange). So the race is usable as is, but it's not something I'd want to use TBH. I may put the old race back on - it's got a bit of wear, but at least it's not cracked. It's also a more robust (thicker) design - no seal but more metal and looks much harder to wreck. Despite being the "same" Campy part and all....

Did the same on my record 1" headset. Just pop onto to wiggle and order a new record headset, £40.
I entrusted the fitting of my Campagnolo headset to my local LBS and they managed to crack the crown race. That means the two LBSes nearest to me have both managed to crack crown races, so I guess from now on I may as well crack them myself.
Does anyone have a spare crown race available to fit? (or a suggested source, or alternative?) The part I need is for the HS7-RE headset (1" threaded) and the crown race is shown as HS-RE008
I have seen one listed on a US website @US$36 for the race (plus shipping). It is cheaper (and a lot quicker) just to buy a whole new headset (£40 @ Wiggle)
Thanks
