For my first wheel build I bought this. rosebikes.co.uk/article/rose-truing-stand/aid:553818
And it was a waste of money. I have since bought the minoura stand and it is significantly better. It may not be park tool level but I think it is plenty good for a couple of wheel sets a year.
What issue did you have? Just being nosey.
For the first few wheel builds on wheels with no dish a decent stand helps to make it easier to understand what is happening. Ended up making my own stand out of some stolen 15mm box section that bolts together.

Thanks; wont opt for it!

I can't believe someone who builds wheels for a living is allowing people to build them for free in his place of work!? Clearly an awesome dude.
Unfortunately I am up in manchester or else I would be all over that offer.

Feel free to come to Platt Fields bike hub and borrow a stand during tool club, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between 4&6.

Not really. I've had a couple, and I would swear by the SKF bottom bracket over any of the ceramic ones I've had.
That said... they make a difference in the rear derr, and hubs feel lovely with them too.

I know this is a bit UTFS but the Android thread and the Mobile phones thread both confuse me... I am a bit of a luddite when it comes to these things. I need a new phone. I am also thinking of getting a tablet. I would like recommendations for either or a good combination.
Things I want to be able to do:
Make ocassional calls.
Text a lot (I highly prefer using a physical numberpad but I am facing up to the fact this is not longer the way of things).
Tri or Quad-band.
3 or 4G and also wi-fi.
Forum.
Email (basic email app is ok).
Other internet stuff like Google.
Maps would be handy.
Look at images.
Look at PDFs.
Ideally work on Office documents (Word and Excel).
Dropbox.Things at the top of the list I associate with phones, things at the bottom tablet. But maybe there is overlap. Music and camera are things that would be nice but not that bothered. No games. I guess I am wondering whether a big phone that does as much of that as possible (probably no Office) would be good, and just accepting that it will be massive and touchscreen, or to get a dedicated tablet and a more basic phone that means I can still text how I like and probably the phone will be easier to carry (my default is to stick phone in pocket along with other stuff). I have always used Nokia so far. Sadly for me there is no longer a market for decent web-enabled numberpad phones :(

A Nokia Lumia will do all the stuff on your list. A Nokia 208 has a numberpad and basic web + email if you want a luddite phone (I have the even more primitive 2130 as my "don't care if I lose it" phone), but unless you want something basically disposable, I'd advise moving into the current decade with a touchscreen phone, you'll very quickly pick up the method and it's much faster than texting on a numberpad.

Two major ones.
The upright arms were not at the same height so the hub didn't sit parallel to the floor initially, resolved this with some brute force.
The gauges for lateral trueing are M6 bolts with a rubber bit on the end, the threads had been cut at an angle, fine for rough work but no good for close Truing.
The gadget for radial trueness wasn't much help either. I ended up improvising that.

I've used all the major brands/ ecosystems. I bought a Lumia 820 a couple years ago. Genuinely one of the worst purchasing decision I've ever made.
Based on what you say, get a Google Nexus 4 or 5.

Arup's a web developer and yoga teacher by trade, wheels on the side.
But regardless of that, still an awesome thing to do. -

What in particular did you dislike? I've had my 800 for two years now, and while I hated it at first due to some particularly stupid things which didn't make the transition from old dumb Nokias to Lumias, overall it has grown on me.

I have a Lumia 625. I think it was about £130 for the handset as I am SIM-only (BTW the absolute BEST way to do mobile phones. Fuck a contract.)
It'll do all you want, plus as it's WP8 has decent Office integration.
However I do miss the variety of apps available for Android, and WP has some downright shitty features but I get on with it. I think on balance, I should have bought the Motorola Moto G at a very similar price point and spec, but it has Android instead of WP.

Wow that is poor construction and quality control, not cheap either.

Condor or brixton cycles have been good for me.

Thanks, I'll measure up and head down there later this week. Can't wait to have my wheel built up again.

Cantilever pads. What's decent in the wet? The Shimano ones practically melt in the wet. I've asked this before, but I can't for the life of me figure out where.

Has anyone put sram x4 trigger shifters on a swept back town bike type handlebar?
Does the sweeping back make them hard to use?

How swept? miss.ua has an X5 trigger on an on-One Mary bar and it seems fine.
The racist comment was a flippant reply about the car comment.
