I bought a Lumia 820 a couple years ago. Genuinely one of the worst purchasing decision I've ever made.
What in particular did you dislike? I've had my 800 for two years now, and while I hated it at first due to some particularly stupid things which didn't make the transition from old dumb Nokias to Lumias, overall it has grown on me.
I know this is a bit UTFS but the Android thread and the Mobile phones thread both confuse me... I am a bit of a luddite when it comes to these things. I need a new phone. I am also thinking of getting a tablet. I would like recommendations for either or a good combination.
Things I want to be able to do:
Make ocassional calls.
Text a lot (I highly prefer using a physical numberpad but I am facing up to the fact this is not longer the way of things).
Tri or Quad-band.
3 or 4G and also wi-fi.
Forum.
Email (basic email app is ok).
Other internet stuff like Google.
Maps would be handy.
Look at images.
Look at PDFs.
Ideally work on Office documents (Word and Excel).
Dropbox.
Things at the top of the list I associate with phones, things at the bottom tablet. But maybe there is overlap. Music and camera are things that would be nice but not that bothered. No games. I guess I am wondering whether a big phone that does as much of that as possible (probably no Office) would be good, and just accepting that it will be massive and touchscreen, or to get a dedicated tablet and a more basic phone that means I can still text how I like and probably the phone will be easier to carry (my default is to stick phone in pocket along with other stuff). I have always used Nokia so far. Sadly for me there is no longer a market for decent web-enabled numberpad phones :(
