Girls one-day shuffle tournament, Birmingham, Sunday September 14th

Polo Ladies!

Ever wanted to visit Birmingham? Well now's your chance. We're hosting a one-day, girls only tournament at our throw-in court in Highgate.

Format:
Shuffle tournament with tape. Each player will get a piece of tape on their mallet corresponding to whether they won, lost, or drew their previous game and then the mallets will be re-shuffled in to even teams. Number of rounds tbc based on number of players.

We'll be providing food (probably Lebanese treats) at a small cost and taking you all to our friendly local pub for post-tourney ale.

Travel
Those coming from the south, London Midland and Chiltern have cheap off-peak returns and are good for bikes.

If anyone wants to come up on the Saturday night we have plenty of room for people to stay.

We're hoping to encourage lots of new female players, so please bring anyone with you who'd like to have a go. We can provide some mallets and other equipment if needed.

Guys are welcome too, but girls only on court!

Nik - I'm up for going up on sat night with ya

just booked my ticket down on Friday night - I'd sort this soon as it was quite hard to get a train with bike reservation. Alternatively be prepared to do the old laundry bags/bike bag trick.

FYI,
Trains to Birmingham Moor St (Chiltern Rail) from Marylebone don't require reservations.

Ahh FFS. I just booked a much later train from Euston than I needed to cos the man at the call center said that they were all booked up for bikes. Is that cos you just can't book bikes in on the Chiltern line?

Probably - I've never booked a bike on there, just turned up and got on.
I think its the same with London Midland.
You do need to book with the Virgin ones.

I've got a bunch of the LO stuff hanging around at mine at the moment (gazebos, beers, a couple of boxes of misc stuff). Anyhow, I'm driving up to Leicester on the Saturday anyhow and happy to drop off any and all on my way through (this looks like it's closish to the motorway?). It'd have to be the morning, I need to be in Leicester by 2.

If there's a place to stay up there I'm happy to hang around and ref/bring back the stuff on the Sunday. Otherwise you'll need to drink all the beer.

Assuming this is all cool with LHBPA types obvs.

Could probably give a lift to two people + bikes if you don't mind a bit of a squeeze (from Clapham).
