  • Well hairdressers have traditionally been used as a cover for more lucrative and less legal forms of business (deal in cash, have no stock to buy or sell). Maybe your local one is an example of such an establishment. Is the owner's car suspiciously expensive?

  • Racist?

Oh maybe not, went to a restaurant in Crouch End that was, it got raided shorty after as one of the people eating with us was drug squad.

Still say Angus steak house is as they are never busy!!!

  • Racist?

    You what?

  • Pass the floor-polish vicar

  • Racist?
Only if you think only black people deal in drugs, stolen goods or run prostitution rings.
Probably says more about your prejudices than anything.

Hairdressers and barbers have been used as a front business and money laundering operation since before Sweeney Todd, being a cash business with no need to show where the most of the money came from or is going. That's still true today.

As for the West Indian hanging-out-at-the-barbers culture, it's a mystery to me. I fucking hate going to the barbers (best thing about going bald is never having to again). I can't imagine going to one if I didn't need a haircut. In my head hanging out at a barbers would be as enjoyable hanging out at the dentists.
