Well said.

By "well said", of course I mean "what a load of specious, unsupported rubbish".
-
• #179
Would be interested to know why you disagree. Do you think it's a good thing if more people see the video?
-
• #180
I wouldn't be daft enough to make such an ill-informed subjective declaration.

• #181
specious
good word

Me? I'm not overly keen on entering this discussion fully - I realise that may sound disingenuous given that I've already weighed in on it a little.
Generally speaking, I think it's healthy for people to question news sources, seek a balanced view and put events/evidence such as this under some scrutiny - given the impact they are likely to have (and already are having) on world events. -

By which you mean, you have nothing to add but a general fart in my direction. Of course it's subjective, it's my opinion.

@winnifred1849 Put aside your hollow sense of moral outrage about people possibly seeing a video for one minute, clinically read over my post about the video being a fake, have a think about it, and respond to it.

stop the press.

Your absurdly unsupported subjective opinion, that you are using as rationalisation to imperiously declare what others should or should not be viewing.
By which you mean, you have nothing to add but a general fart in my direction.
I meant exactly what I wrote. That you infer what you did is about as fatuous as anything else you have posted.

I apologose for the tone of my first response, Kevin.
Though it leaves little to the imagination, the deeply disturbing film does not show the actual moment of Foley’s decapitation. This marks it out from other, less sophisticated predecessors.
‘Some previous Islamist videos, such as the one showing the killing of U.S. hostage Nick Berg in 2004, didn’t get widely shared because people regarded them as too graphic,’ says Hussain.
‘This one, however, has been edited to make it less like a snuff movie, and therefore far more useful as a piece of propaganda.’ says Ghaffar Hussain, the managing director of the anti-extremist Quilliam Foundation.Hussain also goes into the intended targets of the propaganda film in this article:

And yes, it is a Mail article, but I still believe what Hussein says.

You don't read the football thread much, do you?

This makes the football thread look like one of the great debates of this century.

Which it is.
For the same reason hate speech or anything else likely to inflame violence or play into the hands of extremists should be reported in a non-sensationalised way. I know the video eixsts, that's enough for me. The Police are absolutely right to close down the spread of the video. whether real or not, it is an Isis propaganda tool. speculation over its veracity plays into their hands.
