I'm not sure Southampton have any decent young strikers at the moment (that is what you meant by the Anfield academy isn't it?)

we've sadly been concentrating on attacking midfielders over the last few years .... no fowler owen hybrid to come through the ranks unfortunately

Seems like Balotelli is on his way to Anfield. I really don't know what to make of that one. He's got talent but he's a complete maniac. Surely it can only end in tears

He'll eat Brenda for breakfast... I still like him, the game needs loons like him...

one a decade is enough thanks

Balotelli will be good for the lulz, continuing on where Suarez left off.

Morata went to Juve 7 weeks ago! He got injured straight away but will be back soon.
I read one story yesterday that Liverpool were going to pay £12m for a season long loan - with an auto buy clause after the season. Cray

Bolatelli is a good signing if you can keep him happy.

There's talk of Torres going on loan to Roma. The pace of Serie A will suit him but it'll leave us desperately short of strikers with PL experience. Not seen much of Destro to give any judgement on him. Anyone?

High risk / high reward. There is no-one else with that level of talent available for that kind of money. We have to take some risks, as we are not in a position to buy the best established players.

is balotelli a direct replacement for Suarez? Will having Balotelli allow Sturridge to still play in a central position? As @Multi_Grooves offered many times, Suarez was happy enough playing out wide and then cutting in and interchanging with a front man, rather than be up there on his own. Will Balotelli offer the same mobility and flexibility?
Looks like Balotelli is turning into this generation's Anelka, transferred for big money but never settling, and never seeming to play consistently at a high enough level, talent is there, but producing week in, week out is seemingly beyond him currently... Not sure what his wages are but £16m is a decent price, for a striker of his quality..

is balotelli a direct replacement for Suarez?
Not a direct replacement, in my opinion. From what I have seen, Balotelli can play as part of two up front, or solo in 4-5-1 or 4-3-3.
The biggest problem is whether he will participate in our pressing game. Suarez won the ball in the opposition half more times than any other player in the league last season.
On the other hand, Balotelli may actually be a better option than Suarez against teams who park the bus, as he has height and power.

I'm waiting on corndog to give me the lowdown on Destro the destroyer.
