And it does work.
1. Highlight some text that is in a comment
2. Press reply
Voila... highlighted text is quoted.

I'm using Firefox on Linux, if it works here it should work anywhere.

In fact, it seems it only works if I select up to a maximum of one full line of text.

Yeah, this. I tried it with only a small selection earlier and it didn't work but that was possibly FF holding onto the old js
