@lemonade what you need to do, is highlight text in a post, and then hit reply.

It should open the reply box, with the text from the prior post quoted.

When is this gonna work in Firefox?

  • It does already.

But maybe your browser cached the old JavaScript as it was only changed earlier today... CTRL+F5 for you.

Pale Moon? Is that a pub?

    And it does work.

    1. Highlight some text that is in a comment
    2. Press reply

    Voila... highlighted text is quoted.

I'm using Firefox on Linux, if it works here it should work anywhere.

  • Pale Moon? Is that a pub?

  • voila!

  • I still don't think this is working for me

    (Firefox 31, Windows 7)

  • Voila... highlighted text is quoted.

This is working really sporadically now. If I highlight this whole post of yours it doesn't work. If I highlight the listed bit or any section including that it doesn't work either.

  • (btw have ctrl F5ed and cleared cache)

  • In fact, it seems it only works if I select up to a maximum of one full line of text.

  • Pale Moon? Is that a pub?

It's a Firefox branch. It seems to work now but doesn't work for multiline.

  • In fact, it seems it only works if I select up to a maximum of one full line of text.

Yeah, this. I tried it with only a small selection earlier and it didn't work but that was possibly FF holding onto the old js

Really? It's even working on my mobile

  • Still not working with any more than one line - now on Firefox 32, Mac OS X Lion

  • line one
    line two

    paragraph two

  • Yeah, you're right... I wonder if in Firefox it populates the selectionRange differently from how other browsers (Chrome + Safari) do it.

    I'll look tomorrow.

  • it must be exhausting writing software :-)
