  • Hi,

I have a rear Paul hub, laced to a Velocity rim that I bought off a forumer a couple of years ago. It has served me well but a couple of months ago I started to get some play and then rapidly the play became so great that the wheel began to touch the stays!

I took it to my LBS to see if it was a bearing issue and if I had maybe hollowed out the cups in my neglect to get it sorted in time but they weren't able to open up one side of the hub to get to the bearings.

They thought they'd tightened it and fixed the issue without taking it apart but as soon as I rode it the same issue happened. I spoke to the mechanic and he said that you need a Paul specific tool to take it apart and he didn't know where to get one from.

Anyone else had a similar problem or managed to get their Paul hubs serviced? I know BLB stock them and they said they could have a look when I gave them a call but they didn't sound particularly confident and it's a bit of a pain in the arse for me to get over there with a wheel.

Just looking for other options really and advice as to whether I might have destroyed the hub beyond repair.

    Cheers,

    Loz
