Heads up for Non-League day in a couple of weeks time.

  • @andyp, @Tenderloin @middleofnowhere, so a nil nil in turkey good result? Ramsay and Sanchez were the best players by far and now Ramsay won't make the return leg. Is giroud going to get any better because he didn't look like he was offering a whole lot, and your midfield looked like it lacked a lot of bite.
Pundits seemed confident you'll get a result at the emirates but I'm not so sure...

  • It's an alright result. An away goal would've been better. I'm confident over one match at home we will be able to beat Besiktas. Though I wouldn't take away from them, they were the best CL play off opponent since Udinese.

There are numerous factors why we didn't play that well - the pitch being one and it's also pretty early in the season to play 4 games in 12 days. I still think we lack a midfielder and a defender. Chambers has impressed me. I'd have liked to see Campbell upfront at some point yesterday.

People get on Giroud's back after one game can fuck off, the guy played near every game last season, went to the world cup and then back to pre-season. I'll bet you £10 he scores more than Adebayor this season.

  • It was also a pretty entertaining game I thought

    The Germans are coming.

  • Disingenuous.
Liverpool have deliberately purchased property around the ground and driven prices down by not investing.

  • If Arsenal had stayed in N5 they would be up to second.

    Fulham must top the Championship.

  • Fulham must top the Championship

    Is that an instruction?

  • Ooh. I see how that works now.

  • Stop using that word...

tender, saw him in the emirates cup, and he looked woeful, watched him last night and though he hustled and bustled, his touch was loose and the ball bounced off him. Looks like he is still a couple of games/weeks away from being close to effective/fit.
I like him, not sure he's a particularly good fit for the way arsenal play, you seemed more effective with sanchez playing up front and then dropping back into the midfield space to receive the ball and play in midfielders bombing on..

  • ramsey has come on in leaps and bounds.

The whole world was on Ramsey's back 2 seasons ago. Having come back from the broken leg and being bunged out on loan people were saying that he would never be good enough. Same accusations that Wilshire is getting now; too lightweight, no vision, can't make a decision, gives the ball away too much...

Given Jack's injury was the best part of 2 years after Aaron's and he's had a more troublesome recovery, I don't think it's fair to compare his and Ramsey's form right now. Especially as we saw what he can do before the injuries, and especially as we saw how he and Ramsey worked together before Shawcross go involved.

  • Corny, do you even football?
Giroud works well for Arsenal, he gives them the option to hold the ball up and have midfielders make runs off him - having that ball out is crucial to them against tougher opposition. Wenger has been trying to get it right with Ade and Bentdner etc for years and Giroud is definitely doing the best job so far.

As someone else has already stated, the guy played a billion games last season and the world cup. He should still be on the beach or in pre season but Arsenal don't really have the depth to start with a light squad at the start of the season. No wonder he's a bit off the pace. Give it a month or two and he will back in form.

Emirates Cup is a chance for folk who don't normally go to football to see the inside of a stadium. You'd learn more through reading tea leaves than by watching those games.

Giroud is a big presence, he draws the defenders to him and frees space for the midfielders to run into. The Palace game showed his influence. Sonogo (who I still thing is a decent prospect, he is excellent at winning the ball but lacks the experience to make much out of it) couldn't make his presence felt against Palace, who were superbly organised, so they could maintain their brick wall and shut out any threat from midfield. Once Giroud was on his movement created that uncertainty and holes started to appear. In that game I would have liked to seen him subbed in for Arteta to go 2 up front for the last 20 mins as I think that could have opened the gates.

  • Is that an instruction?

If it is, it is hardly likely to be obeyed.

  • that and they've at long last started work on ground improvements and houses have started to tumble

  • Balotelli to Liverpool rumours are back on.

  • Milan need to sell someone in order to buy the 2/3 players they are after, notably a winger. I'm suprised that nobody has put in a bid for De Sciglio but Balotelli is really their only other asset.

  • Seriously, who fucking cares? Sign a player then talk about him. The Falcao story is my favourite joke this summer.

The last 5 pages have been kopite whoppers talking amongst themselves. A load of piss and wind. The sooner they implode the better.

  • Barcelona lose appeal and are banned from transfers for next two windows. Managed to sneak Suarez in before the ban takes effect. #SpecialClub

  • Good job they signed Jeremy Mathieu then.

  • possible good news for hereford shoosh
