the race from an integrated headset did fit snugly - one with a slit in it.
A 1" integrated headset?

its a old columbus steel frame though and it just needs a standard 1" headset, i just wondered if anyone had ever found one to contain that style of crown race

According to the old campag spares catalogues you've got the lower race off a 1" record hiddenset http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/d/118870-2/2001+Campagnolo+Spare+Parts+Catalog.pdf
If what was on was tight, perhaps campag crown races are a bit tighter too

thankyou rustynuts it certainly looks like what was fitted, thats a very useful catalogue and theres other things i own in it...cheers, maybe record 1" is the way to go.
I intended to swap out a steel threaded fork for a threadless 1" carbon fork, purchased a used Time sprint listed as 1" now heres the issue, 26.4 mm races just fall off these Time forks. The silver fork race pictured came fitted on the forks. It is cracked and can be removed by hand but unfortunately it doesnt match up to any headset i can find. When i fit another race to the fork then its loose. LBS used digital calipers and its 26.33 and every headset we tried had a loose race. I'm aware of the shim with a coke can/loctite methods but what i found curious is that the race from an integrated headset did fit snugly - one with a slit in it. Are there any 1" threadless headsets of the standard 1" with this type of race? ive spent days looking for a solution and the only headset i could find with an undersize race avail was Chris King which is rather costly.
