  • Wilshere or Fabregas, no contest. Wilshere is over-rated.

I would have killed to have Fabregas at United, but yeah no CL means almost no-one is interested.

  • He would be perfect for Utd.
Should have offered him the moon on a stick.

Fwiw - I'm not sure if Wilshere is overrated, but he's definitely plateaued in the last couple of seasons.

  • Wilshere is still only 22, he has time to prove he's a decent player. He needs to sort his lifestyle out though.

  • Hmm - Chelsea looking good, excellent chorus of the Steven Gerrard song as well. Gonna be a cracker of a season in my opinion.

    So we weren't playing?.....

  • At least Fulham are now in the division where they truly belong and can play Brentford twice a year.

  • He needs to sort his lifestyle out though.

This in spades. He seems to have far less zip & agility than 3-4 years ago.

  • They still sing about us at Anfield. Probably because the period of our decline closely nirrorered their own. It's just ours lasted a little longer. And continues to this day.

  • True, but he just doesn't seem to have that desire to put the hard graft in? Talent is only going to get him so far...

If you think Jack doesn't graft then I'm guessing you watch most of your football on teletext. What he really needs to do is slow down and look up a bit more.

  • Liverpool interested in Patrick Roberts - I'll be pissed if they get him, he looks terrific and should be playing for Arsenal.

"It is believed that Roberts is a boyhood Liverpool supporter, with his parents having been born on Merseyside."

I've never heard any Derby songs there.

  • So you think all the hard graft is done on match day then?

  • lies!

Not at all. For the pre season friendly against Real Sociedad, the ground sold out very quickly and there were touts all the way from Fulham Broadway. For that game, only 6,000 season ticket holders bought their seats. 15,000 non season ticket holder non members came which is exactly what the club wanted. It was probably the most profitable day at the Megastore for some time as irregulars loaded up on tat.

    Ftfy

  • He needs to put some work in at the gym - undoubtedly. He is not strong enough mainly but could also work on his pace over 10-30 metres.
He has also had to terms with the reality that Ramsey is the golden boy in the team, where as 3 years ago playing Barcelona, Jack took on Xavi/Busquets/Iniesta and looked every bit the top drawer player.

  • So you think all the hard graft is done on match day then?

Graft means physical work, and the graft he puts in on the training ground shows on matchdays. He covers a huge distance on the pitch and when asked lasts 90 mins happily, despite the physical attention he always gets.

Now if you take graft to mean sitting down and having a think about his approach to the game then you might have a point. But you didn't did you? You were just back pedalling.

  • Wilshere is still only 22

True - it's easy to forget that.

  • Actually he is from Kingston and joined Fulham from AFC Wimbledon at the age of 13 and so very unlikely to have been one of the Anfield faithful.

I have seen him play. Fulham U18s lost.

  • ^^^ touchy. To be fair to Buckaroo - he doesn't look the fittest of players. Perhaps it's a lifestyle thing - as Andy suggested?

Let's also remind ourselves that he is also a million times better than everyone playing in Man U's midfield, bar Hererra.

  • He needs to put some work in at the gym - undoubtedly. He is not strong enough mainly but could also work on his pace over 10-30 metres.

Not sure I agree. If he bulks up he'd lose his agility and he shouldn't need to change just 'cos the cloggers get away with kicking lumps out of him. What he used to do was vary his pace and burst away from trouble, seems he puts his head down and charges the moment the ball comes to him.

    beat me to it

  • Did I really read somewhere that Cleverley is getting a new contract at Utd?

  • He's a very average player so why wouldn't they?

  • I don't mean bulk up - I mean improve physically - you compare his physique to Sanchez or Messi (same height not comparing Wilshere to Messi) and I think he is too lightweight. Ramsey worked on this after his leg break.
