I've never tried clipless pedals, I ride with straps, but one thing putting me off would be the necessity of either wearing special shoes or removing and replacing the pedals if I wanted to change.

What do people think of this?

I guess it's not designed to replace clipless for those who live in cleated shoes, more to provide flexibility?

It's been done before.

I think it is a shitty halfway house- as your shoe is still retained by the strap I can't see any functional difference.
