  • Got this frame in a cheap job lot, seems pretty nice but no idea what it is (not a Raleigh). Tig welded, with lugged forks. Looks pretty similar to my crosscheck but lighter. Rides incredibly well. Tough but not as much of a tank as the crosscheck.

Room for massive tyres as well but need to buy some new rims for anything past 28c...

  • Taken the 46/34 off the crosscheck and gonna run that 1x9 with moustache bars. Now. Have a double garage (!) I can have ALL the bikes.

  • There's also this. Anyone know about alu welding? Is this dead?

  • Doesn't look like alu to me. Cracked TIG weld? Wouldn't ride.

  • Columbus aelle, that's a French builder is pretty rare and that's it for what I know.

  • seriously awesome saarf! how is the ride?

  • straight Time/Colnago one in black, or other brand straight carbon with clear lacquer seem to be the only options. will look great though :-)

  • Cheers
Rode ok, I only went round the block, felt too small mate
so I flipped it, poss one of my quickest sales ....off to Germany
so, to get over that heartbreak, I got a team dream cx ,rabobank, pics tomorrow

  • team spec, heavy shit, got a mad weld plate under dt for strength,

my first thought was front ender, but no,angles are right and given the amount of colors in that region, would be prohibitively expensive to replicate, so must have been done when built, then decor added
wider stays than the roadie,no bidon bolt holes, so team spec with shimano decal on lever and seat post
no cracks visible on joins or elsewhere, dent and ding free
(spent 3 hrs travelling to look at one before and the cunt never declared the fuck off dent in the tt)
has NL flag and the name Lennert Hut on the tt, when it's quiet i like to think it's a relative of Jabba The Hut, search pulls up nowt, so if prior owner, poss a narcissist rather than team rider, but would originally have been a team bike
gutted I lost the gum walls in the dual sale, but hey, that's rock n'roll
may build better wheels and get gums then, as of now, conti cx's will do for these shimano wheels
paint fallen here and there, mercifully in single color areas, but I think I know a man who can, so we'll see
novelty stem is going asap as well as sad saddle

  • milanese bicycle version of a subaru imo
they have some sand dunes not too far from me, so once tyres are on, I shall attempt mounting and dismounting at speed
before the ground gets too hard

  • Only thing you need now is a matching Rabobank kit!

  • i haz
    i needs a rabo dream pista for a 3 card trick ;-)

  • always had love for the dual, but , tbh, given ALANs history, always mad me a little nervous
the forks on the dream cx seem a lot more robust than I expected, i also have some c50 cx forks which i'll try as they are beefy like the dt, but forks have landbouw decor (Sven's ?) so need sanding really

  • lighter

Yeah, won't be riding but just wondering if it can be welded to repair. I didn't think it was alu but it ain't magnetic.
Welds seem very small for alu which is what has possibly led us to this point. It's a decent frame, no idea what it is though.

  • Stong page !!!

  • If you take a sharp knife to it does it easily scratch? If not then it is quite possibly Ti, if it does then it is alu.

  • You can probably have it repaired. @Vince had a similar crack on his Ti commuter.

  • Check my Ti Hack CP thread.

My Ti frame is currently with Vernon Barker for repairs.

Your crack looks similar so you should send them photos of it and ask for an initial quote.

  • Alas, it easily scratches so no Ti for me! I'm about to start to learn tig welding so will try and sort it myself eventually.

  • Great stuff on the last page. Loving the rabo 'cross bike saarf.

  • used a cleaning compound, but not able to give full spit'n'polish due to rain stopping play

initial "field" tests prove very satisfactory, bar novelty stem, saddle and wrap, paint falling a bit gash though

  • No wonder it's a bit small with the shorter stem and saddle set very far forward.

  • Blockquote
no need to fret Edward, this ones fine, just hadnae dialled in proper yet,the Dual was the small one
    thanks for the input though

  • still got to get the hang o'quoting, think i may just use marks
men in white coats are currently in discussion re paint renovation

  • RIP Cliff Shrubb.

Will be making a thread so keep your eyes peeled :-)
