Did the guy 10 minutes behind the group catch up?
I passed you heading the opposite direction just after Shooters Hill and the straggler at the top of the hill.

Thought I saw a forum cap on a roadie whilst we were coming down from shooters hill! I think I have you a friendly roadie nod. Yeah they caught us up! The break away failed...

Chasing the front 5 on the run in to Whitstable? With the walled side and the awesome tailwind, smooth road, no traffic... That was an fantastic couple of miles.
And sorry to those stuck behind me on the downhills :) #worldsworstdecender #waitformeatthebottom -

Hail Long John Sliver!
Yeah it does doesn't it? this was at Herne Bay where the idea was to have a quick pit stop and gather 'fuel' But a keen eye spotted a bike with a puncture (which for a forum ride having no punctures all the way from London is very rare) so John and the crew decided to fix it and prolong the stay at the beach...

After reading all the morning bed wetting of missed trains etc. Set off to the station and then a puncture happened with only a few minutes to spare for the last connecting train and thought not me too. Nah! So jogged and pushed my bike instead. Didn't have enough time to fix the puncture on the train and not miss connecting stops. In between asking a market trader and vicar for directions to Blackheath Gate, the puncture pit stop was done at the terminating stop. Spotted a trail of fixed cadences and corrected my direction by 45 degrees assuming they knew the exact way. Shooters Hill had me for breakfast on the ascent whilst the “casual” “not a race” 21 mph peloton glided into the distance, probably tapping their fingers waiting for me. Paradoxically, I somehow descend hills a bit too fast for some riders taste. En route may have missed the LFGSS trail and a few turns around Rainham just at the point of torrential rain. Took cover under a friendly looking tree until the weather settled. Instead of bailing ploughed on to Herne Bay with the aid of satellite navigation for the remaining 35 miles. Rolled along Herne Bay then spotted the LFGSS crew again. Yeah! The Herne Bay to Margate coastal ride was winded assisted, with great views and company. After withstanding 75 miles for a few hours my bike was nearly destroyed in one second by someone kicking a football at it during the beer fish and chips stop in Margate. Not sure what the Guinness Book of Records is for the most bikes in a train carriage is but it was a cosy train ride home. Nice meeting new and familiar faces. Thanks John and Kris for making me a better rider.
