I guess you're the one who outbid me for like 5£ then :)
Nice one. Looking forward to the final result now (sigh).Subscribed.

So what is in the parts bin?

To get rolling, I think it will be:
Black Mavic GP4 on unknown hubs
Dura Ace 54t track chainring (3/32) w/ Campag SR copy cranks
Galli (Campag 1st gen SR copy) rear derailleur
Campag right hand downtube shifter (NR)
Some bars, maybe the chopped and flopped 3TTT competizione I've got
Non-aero Galli brake levers mounted on said bars
Old Shimano 600 calipersEventually, it needs some TT porn, i.e. Huret Jubilee, PMP cranks (!), Modolo Kronos levers and brakes (if they still exist anywhere), drilled everything

Mix & Match followed by Drillium: I like the sound of both.
Full group builds are nice, but M&M has the authentic touch.
Not enough Drillium on the forum: seize the day!

So it got delivered to the office today, managed to take some snaps this evening while packing (we're moving house tomorrow)
I think Tom Avon may have been a Bristol boy. Or at least he got his stickers there...
Geo may feel a bit relaxed compared to my pub biek
Hope to start stripping the donor bike over the weekend in my new shed!

Holy fuck, that Argos is yours?!!
Please, what are the measurements?
-
• #11
Are you going to keep the current paint or is it going to be resprayed?
-
• #12
Probably keeping it how it is - not keen on resprays both in terms of price and authenticity...

I would like to add to tatanab's comments about Tom Avon frames. The framebuilder's name was Steve Whitchurch. He did, I think specialise in tandem frames. We had ours built in the early 1980's. In the Bicycle Times issue 43 there is an article about him titled " Tandems by Tom". His workshop was at 7 Chessel Street, Bedminster, Bristol. I hope that this is of interest to you.
Looking forward to the build!

I love that Argos - everytime a picture comes up I can't help but wonder about how mental looking the geometry on it is. It looks like a 'normal' lo pro on first take, but then you notice how much taller it is than long.. absurd!

pinkthing looks sit-up-&-beg by comparison

So a slightly unsuccessful day today after the first attempt to put this together. Just finished dismantling the donor bike when it started to rain.
Not too much dismantling required - I've taken the crankset, rear derailleur and a shifter cable. Everything then went back into the shed.
Noticed these little holes as I was doing so: front dropout adjusters? Never seen them in the wild before.
Hopefully when I get some more time I'll be able to finish this off. Annoyingly it looks like the AX brakes I've got are for non-recessed bolts - didn't know they even existed like that.

So it looks like I've just won some sexy Gipiemme stuff on eBay (incl the coke spoon shifter), which may make its way onto here. Oops.

Quite excited; looking to do a period build with what I have in the parts bin and on other bikes. 65cm ctt, so proper man-size, looks like 700 front and rear. More photos on arrival - looking forward to more constant downhill!
