What is the hook back inland for? Is it to make up mileage or is there a better train service from there?
01.00 is a late depart, what time does the pub on the park close?

the hook back isn't essential, but the trains from Walton or Frinton all seem to require you to change at the first stop. I figured, for the sake of a 4 mile pootle people would rather not have to unload and switch platforms 8 mins after slumping into a seat? Happy to call that on the day though..
Yeah the start time is a bit annoying - I'm just concerned about arriving too early and it's frustrating to have to deliberately ride slowly. The cafe I've used before opens @ 8am (although that may need a rethink too as it looks dead posh now!). I'm sure there'll be others but even starting at 1am means we could accidentally arrive well before 7am, which put's us in time-killing territory? I also thought avoiding kicking out time might be advantageous - but I'm a night-owl so if people prefer an earlier start I'm easy...

Oooh. In!

The departure time it's self doesn't worry me and I agree that arriving before the cafes open is the greater worry. It's the 'anging around 'ackney at a hantisocial hour that concerns be a bit. Perhaps we can do a more central depart from a more "polite" neighbourhood.

well yes quite... I would never dare be so impolite to as to suggest meeting at, for example, one of North London's fine late-night drinking holes, for a midnight pre-ride pint though ;-)
... or for the more energetic, 00:30 at Regents for a hot lap and grind up Swain's to kick things off...

This ride will leave from outside the pub in London Fields (usual DD start point) @ 01:00. Yes, that's technically Saturday morning - with the aim of scoring breakfast by the sea before getting the train home.

when i set off for the dynamo at half 11 from the pub some bloke came up to me and said 'i hate lycra' or something like that. plus last year i saw 3 yes 3 fights break out whilst waiting to set off for the dynamo. you'd do well to miss kicking out time at that pub

Quotes are dead easy now, see.
I'd suggest Spitalfields with maybe a bagel run start to take care of mid ride food snacks.I'll be in the Leutasch Valley drinking schnapps and eating strudel.

Every thread has become a "how to use the forum" thread.

Also, maybe do this as an event to keep this thread clean for the Wednesday rides.

Eating strudel is a good idea.
Going to Austria is excusable under certain circumstances.
Drinking schnapps is bad and wrong.

Did think of that but we want the more committed WNKRs rather than opening it out to every man and his dog. Don't really want to be "exclusive" but just rather not have people who have stumbled across the forum turning up on rusty Halfords mountain bikes with half a pack of M&Ms and a can of Coke to get them through the night.

Fairy muff
Next time you put the list up can you include an (at)Balmain and (at) anyone else who might be keen but not necessarily following this thread. Friday night could be a good night to get some of the bad dads out.

Ok, if everyone is happier with a 00:30 meet time @ that polo court thingy on Brick Lane I'll update the post and route. That should allow for Beigel fiends to fill their boots whilst those of us with an irrational fear of tight trousers can hide in the shadows?
*I'll take that as a yes...adding Katy and amending the start point in the post below... (can you edit your post at the top of the page please Mon, my original post is already done...]

And lo it was decreed that Friday the 5th of September will see a WNKRRCNT Production of the Overnight Deluxe variety.
The route will be a shamelessly pilfered and bastardised version of one of the forum's favourite routes (thanks to MA3K) but will be roughly 90 miles, looking a bit like this...
http://www.strava.com/routes/795860 (the bit on the end is to get a direct train back to London, 75mins, every hour, 13 mins past the hour)
Yes, in this case the destination will be sunny Frinton-on-Sea!
Riders will meet next to the Polo court at the junction of Brick Lane and Shacklewell St from 00:30 and ride out at 01:00 promptly. Yes, that's technically Saturday morning. The aim will be to catch breakfast somewhere before getting the train back...

Nope! can't work it out. Tried twice on mobile and twice on desktop.
Have to say, I thought this microcosm thingy was supposed to be user friendly - only to those who can code eh? -

Yep, doesn't do lists very well. Also seems not to carry the formatting forward either. Will all be a lot better when we have a WNKR forum and can set these up event-by-event.

there also seems to be a problem with my forum name having brackets!?
