  • You need to talk to John.

  • I'd be happy with that, I emailed Nik to see what the deal is.

  • Parking today and Sunday will be ok, tomorrow arsenal are playing at home so there'll be restrictions.

  • taking bets on how long it takes hooking rule to be removed.

  • Parking is very tricky in Islington. We're in Zone E which has the following restrictions:
    Mon - Fri 8.30am - 6.30pm, Sat 8.30am - 1.30pm
With the following additional matchday controls:
    Mon - Fri 8.30am - 8.30pm, Sat 8.30am - 4.30pm
    Sun & Public Hols Noon - 4.30pm

If it was me I'd try to find one of those independent "park all day for £x" places, or would try to find a Londoner with a space you can use, or would head well away from the centre of town where you may find an unrestricted road.

  • Court build underway!! Ply here, pallets in 1 hour. All hands on deck! If you get here by pallet time you get a roll and a tea!

We'll be here all day then heading to The Crooked Billet pub on upper Clapton road, near the station. E5. They do food and good beer!!

    Woop! See you all soon!

  • Polo at Downs tonight?

  • Should I bring a drill? Won't be there until about 5.

  • Seen the other thread, I chuck a little cordless screwdriver in but not the drill.

  • so excited!

  • It's at Highbury&islington. Same place as last year. Not sure what the parking is like but there is a football match at the Emirates on Saturday which means parking restrictions on Saturday on the stadium side of highbury. (Restrictions on a match day are until 8:30pm). You ll be better somewhere a bit further.

  • "If they suck really badly on the first day, we will remove them on the second."

Sorry to be a hater, but they suck really badly right now!

  • I would support an unadulterated NAH v4.2 ruleset for familiatity's sake, since it's what we used at Bristol for the UK champs, and it doesn't contain v4.3(?)'s new rotor guard rule, which people may not be aware of and may not have time to address before their matches tomorrow.

I didn't know about the rotor guard rule until the morning of the Wildcard in Padova. I was informed it was in the "current" v.4.4, however I can't find a v4.4 online, so maybe it was a ruse to help local producer Salvo sell more guards...

  • I agree, but democracy wins.

  • v4.3 doesn't have a rotor guard rule, and I've checked with Tim that it won't be included at the Open.
What happened in Padova struck me as utter BS.

  • Phew I was getting a tad worried then. I'm on a train without a rotor guard en route to London. See ya about 1500

  • More people voted against the hooking rule than for it.

  • In a democracy I though everyone got to vote?

  • ^^ trufax, the poll got lost in the microcosm migration.

  • Rotor guard? how are they more dangerous than an exposed wheel?
Lets remove all cables as well, in case someone trips and strangles themselves....

  • I think the poll was LHBPA only? Anyone can join the association, it helps funds tournaments and stuff. Your input would be very warmly received!

I love a good hook, but am happy to try out this new rule... it's not like you're being asked to play naked.

I think (non janky) rotor guards are a good idea, it's only a matter of time until a shin gets split open by one and we've already banned exposed freewheels. There, I said it. It's not the spinning element, it's the thin metal edge and shin-width gap between the rotor and the wheel.

I also think crab dab playoffs for draws is an excellent idea, but I'm not sure it's gonna fly this year...

As you were, people like different things, can't we all get along, etc.

  • So did they go with an unagreed draft?

I did get a reasonably priced guard out of it, but that's a load of stress I could have done without.

  • They stick further out and often have inadequately radiussed edges. They may also bend on impact and jam the rotor, giving an undesired emergency stop.

  • I've looked for and failed to find "v4.4".

  • Stop bitching about the rules on the internet and go to highbury and help Nik build the court....
