Suntour 26" fork with 80mm travel = 459mm a-t-c.
Suntour 26" with 100mm travel = 479mm a-t-c.
Something to start with I reckon.

I think fitting that P2 I have then will definitely have the front end sitting a little lower than its supposed to then.
It seems like really early P2s were 390mm then they moved to 410/440mm. I expect mine will be 410mm but I can measure in the morning and I can even just try them in there for a while once I get the frame.
Given I'll be running the Blackburn Outpost rack up front what's better, a shorter fork/steeper head angle or a longer fork/slacker angle?

The 1" headtube Muddyfox frame replaced with the Columbus tubed 1 1/8" headtube Marin frame.
Performed well but thinking that I might try a Jones type bar or the swept back bars that were on the 1x1 a wee while ago as I've found that I have quite a lot of back/shoulder/neck discomfort today after riding yesterday. Probably due to a lot of yesterday's riding being off road but I think the bars I have are maybe a bit narrow. Might make sense as I think they are 42s which is probably what I should ride on a normal drop, on these the hoods sit a good bit inboard of where the bars would have been measured.

Try and search for a Titec H bar. they're basically a copy of the Jones bar but on a budget, I used to have one on my old MTB and work pretty well.

Was about to suggest that, one went on eBay last week for £35 or so.

I really need to make a FBNPNA sticker.
Or even a stem cap but that'd limit bike choice.

Put me down for one if you do.

Still on the topic of Jones Bars, with the carbon version being announced yesterday I think it's a pretty safe bet you'll see a lot of the bikepacking crowd (especially the competitive ones) replacing theirs. Hopefully some second-hand bargains to be had...

Aye, good job recognising it.
Was trying to follow the statute labour road up to near loch arklet/inversnaid but got a bit lost.

Hahah, sounds right! Good few bits of singletrack around there, going to be digging some trails soon there too, or at least trying to fix some.

Take it you live in that area then?
I don't drive do it's quite a ride to get out there so I tend to do it on a bike more suited to distance than joining about in the forest.

Actually, on a related note, I've been thinking about an IGH for the 1x1 for a while but I do like riding ss plus putting gears on a bike named for its singlespeededness seemed wrong.
I've been looking at Nuvinci hubs recently though and I'm really tempted to get one for the 1x1.
I figure that as there aren't any distinct 'gears' within the Nuvinci hub I won't be shaming the frame too much?

You really gotta try it out as it's very much a personal preference.
The weight may be similar to a full 3x8 drivetrain but it's all in the back wheel, also you might not like the lack of direct feel which feel numb and disconnected.

Grandparents live in one of the houses next to the Loch, I go up there a fair amount. Taking my Rune V2 up there this year, going to dig some trails if I get enough time, theres so much potential!
Awesome, I'm an utter noob when it comes to
front endgeometry so good to hear that you think it'll be ok!
