I feel for you, I can only hope that the guys at njs export will be reasonable and somehow sort you out. Must be super shit waiting for weeks then it not even working properly.
Gutted for you.

With an impacted toptube I'm amazed they didn't check/notice the forks were that bad. Especially since they have pictures up with wheels fitted.
-
• #154
Exactly. I was thinking that when looking at the listing. Really sorry to hear about the frame coming over in that condition. Hope you get if sorted.

keirin riders won't (be allowed to) race previously crashed frames no matter how light the damage no? - i think its great to have an njs frame that has been raced to the limit, i'm not sure mine ever was - the frame -she's still rideable tho right tababa?
-
• #156
I would say the frame itself is rideable, but I reckon there would be plenty of folk who look at the crack along the lug joint and say it's not.
The fork though? I would not feel safe riding that, would be on my mind constantly. Not to mention the fact that the wheel does not sit straight in the fork, there is at least twice as much gap on the left side of the tyre (looking at the frame) than on the right.
I was totally prepared to accept the damage as it was listed in the ad, I knew that's why it was cheap(ish) at $390, but the fork and the damaged lug are much more serious than the tiny ding in the top tube which was shown, which if anything is much less bad looking in real life.
Edit: I haven't received a response from NJS Export yet so am going to just sit tight. I am very hopeful they will make things right one way or another.

Sure your wheel isn't just bent?
-
• #158
Sounds like Export fucked up a bit. Really feel for you it must suck to finally get it and it not be as expected. That cracked paint in the lug could turn into something pretty serious.
hopefully NJS export will sort you out somehow!

Sure your wheel isn't just bent?
Yep, checked with another wheel too.

Fuuuck that sucks! Did it happen during transport? Was the box deformed as well?
edit: nevermind missed the 7th page

A bit gutting that it has come bent @Tababa
I am sure they will sort something.
They were great when I ordered my Makino taking additional measurements they haven't listed a few weeks ago. They have some new frames on at the moment, including this beauty!

Already asked for a price for Nag above.
$3200
Maybe next life...

WOW, that Nag is delicious.
And hat's off to NJS Export. First email I got back was a grovelling apology and the offer of a lovely Rap frame as a replacement in the same size and a price $100 more than I paid for the Vivalo. My only issue with it was a VERY steep seat tube (almost vertical) and a top tube at 56.5 which was a little long for me.
So I suggested a lovely Eimei in the same price bracket as the Rap and it will be posted to me shortly. I asked about returning the Vivalo and there was no response to that, simply an assurance that the eimei will be posted asap with a tracking number and another apology.
Top customer service!

Wow, that's some impressive customer service, has anyone had bad experiences with njsexport that aren't to do with customs being long?
-

Not "bad" but worth bearing in mind...
If two items look the same and one is priced lower despite not looking any different cosmetically, it will be in a poorer condition.
I purchased a number of cheaper stems in order to fine-tune my cockpit setup. I ended up keeping a Pearl and I sold two Jags to forumengers without installing them. It turns out that the top bolt on one of the Jags was a little rounded out. It was apparently still functional and the buyer was happy but had I spent a couple of quid more this would not have been the case.
I guess "You get what you pay for" rings true obviously.
In my experience with NJS Export, they are genuinely nice guys who will go out of their way to help you, they have a large, constantly expanding stock and despite their efforts to document everything, from time-to-time their photography doesn't cover all bases so you should use the prices to help make your decisions too however enticing the bargains appear.

I've never had so good customer service than from those njs-sellers. I asked about one frame some time ago from 8pilgrim8, and i received lots of additional pics from it. After purchasing i semi-jokingly asked if they had any more information about the frame, and i got more info than i dreamed :D (year it was made, drivers name, etc). The frame arrived from Japan faster than our domestic postal service delivers letters from the next town.

They really are brilliant. My frame was delivered within a week.

Got to agree with @privatepatterson on the price thing.
I would suggest always going for the most expensive options they have, which on the grand scheme of things ain't that expensive most of the time.
Particularly with some of these frames, they have trully outstanding framebuilding quality, which would cost you an absolute fortune to have replicated in the UK.
