shame the blacks are out, looking for a nice (and cheap though, sale and thrift shop work) lightweight black jacket some time. will keep an eye out on them!

  • Single black jacket? That'll stand out. Why not dark grey or navy?

  • have navy, have dark grey. have thick black.

    plus, architect.. ;)

  • Good find and thanks for the heads up Henry!

I was hoping someone might know a good, cheap-ish place to get hold of a linen jacket? Ideally, I don't want to spend more than £150. And preferably a fairly classic cut..

For a little bit more I bought something excellent from JCrew.

Swerve Jigsaw, maybe look at Hackett. Do you think you'll hit his level of steeze?:

  • Wow....

  • L-low can do no wrong. Leave her alone, at least.

  • Very niche cut.

    Maybe Dickies?

  • Is it me or is the tie bar superfluous?:

  • there or in general?

i need one when i go out to eat in tie to save my tie hanging in gravy/soup/tomato sauce

    normally use hairpins from girlfriend/sister/housemate.

  • Beyond visual I don't see it's function.

  • Bit much with the cardigan i'd say, especially as the rest of the outfit is pretty casual

  • Does anyone know of a place in London that can revamp ties? Some of mine are getting a bit worse for wear and need a bit of TLC and could also do with being made a bit slimmer. I found a place in NY but with shipping it works out as too expensive

  • Anyone know where i can get something similar to these? http://www.pavementclothing.com/index.php/levi-s-vintage-clothing-lvc-1920s-chinos-early-2000-collection.html

I doubt you'll find something like that BUT I think you could re-create with a decent tailor and a larger waist size etc

  • I've got one of these for sale - think it's an XL worn it maximum of 6 times and no smoke/pets etc.

    £60 would take it.

  • Can posts be deleted?? Also when I input my user name, why doesn't it appear with my posts?

  • I asked the same thing almost a year back. If you do find someone please forward info my way. Cheers!

  • read here about your username: http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/252832/

re the ties, Will do I dont think I'll find anyone. I dont really want to pay more than £10 a tie and I wouldnt trust some dodgy dry cleaner place with my any of best ones

  • I'm still on the search for the perfect plain tee. Been researching tee shirt shapes and cuts, measuring up old favourites and trying to figure out exactly what it is I like about some and dislike about others. Got so far that I've been genuinely pondering the logistics of setting up a crowd-funded bespoke tee service along the lines of gustin but for specific cuts and sizes as opposed to styles. Short of that, who does light cotton tees with a slightly waisted fit. Not clingy "fitted" but just with a very slight taper.

  • ^have you tried the supremexhanes 3 pack of plain tees? they are very thin and I didnt rate them when I first got them but since washing they have been great.

  • Will do. Been trying to dechipher the cuts on the Hanes uk bulk order site this morning but gave eup as everything not in XXXL was out of stock anyway. Cheers.

  • Anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to buy decent office suits? Preferably under £300. I have a contemporary fit Austin Reed one which is very good, but as I am now entering 'the real world' I would like a couple more. I would like contemporary fit (not old man, not skinny), and preferably at least 70% wool (100% would be better). Had a look at TM Lewin, Austin Reed, Charles Tyrwhitt and plan to look at M&S. Looking for tips on quality and wear really. Also would need to mix and match on sizes, something which Austin Reed no longer offers. Cheers!

  • M&S are probably the best for your needs.
You could look at Suit Supply or Reiss.

  • ^ I really wouldnt bother with M&S. Everyone recommends them but I've had two suits from there and I never wear them as I always look like a sack of sh*t in them. I got the basic slim fit wool suit from Charles Tyrwitt last year and it is great, wear it all the time for work - would recommend. They also tailor it for you for not very much.
