Can cycle tops be tailored? What would the cost be? (genuine question, I have no idea what the going rate is these days, especially in London and if it can be done at all)
Would you get a deal if you had 5 tops altered at once?
Although I understand the argument that you shouldn't have to resort to that.(if it's not been done) Might be worth getting a petition together and passing it around the club's and presenting it the stores. Surely enough names should trigger sone investment?
Or start sending weekly letters and organising sit ins akin to the new look +size demonstrations

Not me - I think it was possibly jayloo who had that done and said it worked pretty well.
IIRC @chainbreaker also had to have extra material put into his sharkpits because the sleevs wouldn't fit around his mahoosive guns.

If I'm spending upwards of £70 on some clothing I don't want to be spending more money to make it fit. Can you imagine if the menz had to do that? There would be outrage!
And I tried to hassle Morvelo/The Ride Journal into doing their kit in a ladies size via the old twitters and they gave me the old "there isn't demand" schtick but they needed a silly small amount of females who said they would buy the kit to do a re-run and I surpassed that number easily in getting names. Nothing happened though.
And you'd hope people behind the "Women's Cycling" magazine would get behind/organise such a campaign but recent features have included "why & how you should ride your bike in the dark" and "should you ride your bike when you've got your period" oh, and then there's the double spread page EVERY EDITION about how your star sign influences your riding style.
But yes, rant aside, you make very salient points/ideas about maybe getting clubs involved - could maybe pester the Mule Bars Girls to get behind it too...thanks!

One could argue that if the Rapha's women section is still selling well, there's no reason why Morvelo shouldn't sell women's fit.

I have also had issues with trying to persuade Morvelo to do female cut jerseys, FWIW. They're really just not that bothered. It's only wimmin, after all, eh?
As a side note I just had a look at Women's Cycling magazine and I see they have a button on their main navigation for "beauty". What the hell.

You can have them altered
Bothwell is right, i had to have the arms in my cylcing top let out.
If you find a normal tailor, im sure they could do it for the cost that they would do a work shirt. I would suggest supplying the material for the change if youre adding material as they will probably not have cycling specific material. But to be honest, i have no idea what the discussions about.

I was suckered in by the @yournamehere and only read the last two posts of the conversation prior to that also

If I put @Oliver Schick here, does that mean he'll come running?
-
• #538
You don't even need to do that, tbh, all you need to do is spell something incorrectly five times and he'll appear in your bathroom mirror to correct you.

Ladies, ladies - surely there are enough maroon, purple, teal and neon pink DHB jerseys on the shelves at Halfords to satisfy all your needs? /s
But seriously, wtf? Have Rapha come out and said they sell fuck all of their ladies stuff or something which puts off the other manufacturers?

Oh I 100% agree, but I spent my college / Uni years campaigning about lack of larger women's clothing and + Size body image, you really need to kick up a stink just to see marginal improvements.
It not only comes down to money, but the can-not-be-arsed attitude. And the apathy is on both sides. I looked at the redhook start list this morning; 234 men, but only 19 women want to have a go? Not a single female entrant from the UK?
Anyway, I've digressed... What I'm saying is if you want something done, get out there and do it. I'm watching my mailing lists, I expect to see petitions :) -

I've bought loads of stuff on pre-order. Simply because I like stuff from small companies, and those companies often need a guaranteed sale level.
Obviously it's not ideal. But I see no reason, outside of apathy, that this small run kit can't be offered as a pre-order in ladies cut. -

Capricorn here - What does August have in store for me and my bike?

This months edition which had Libra in it might cover you...I'll see if it's still in the recycling bin!

I called them out on the period feature via the old twitters and they said "lots of women had written to them about it"
REALLY?? Lots of women?? Or a couple of people who still believe you should wash your hair or do hard sums when you're bleeding. facepalm
But yes, I should probably stop derailing.
Yukirin you are right - less whining on teh forum more doing something!

• #547
umm... I don't like riding when I have my period? it's just horrible and I'm too tired. I don't know that I need a magazine to give me any advice about it though.

Women's kit needs covered - Tenspeed Hero
Wife has their LPV tricolour jersey, it's made in Italy by Nalini and it's fackin' lovely.
TSH were v. helpful when it came to sizing too.Regarding tailoring - had the sleeves on my Endo / TBDT jersey taken up for tanning reasons.
Had a pro machinist do 'em. -

They do sell women's jerseys.

None of these brands make their kit. All that ordering women's jerseys involves is just that: picking up the phone and placing a minimum order and bothering to hold some extra stock. The cost of the small run gets passed on.
So ... yeah, no excuses really.
Tokyo Fixed said they will be ordering smaller sizes in their new collection. I'm not sure whether that means they will be doing women specific cuts or just getting in more small/extra small mens jerseys. They will be ordering some women specific bibs, though, which is cool.
