Because it's a new shared conversation.
Though it shows unread for a split second as the "mark read" function runs concurrently to rendering the page.

Cheers!
I like to keep expectations manageably low, though. -

RIP trending..

A wise man once spoke to me and he said: You can just bookmark http://www.lfgss.com/trending/ if you want it.

@Velocio Sometimes when someone posts a link that is longer than then the page is wide, it introduces some sideways movement in the thread.
Hoke's post here is a mild example but over the last few days I've encountered some that enable several pages worth of horizontal movement. Only a minor thing but I assume it isn't supposed to be like that.
Neither that comment by hoke nor the whole page will load in Chrome on Android, Galaxy Tab 2, it just flashes black and white. I haven't tested other android platforms, it is ok on windows FF.

Could this be your connection? There are a lot of external images and I tested on my girlfriend's Samsung phone and they worked fine.
-
• #861
Not in the near future.
We are avoiding featured that impact other platforms in any way. Adding that for desktop would increase the size of the page we send to mobile.
At some point we will have native mobile apps and then we can introduce features for one platform knowing it wouldn't impact another platform.

cross-platform compatibility is an argument of course. Keeping data-transfer low for mobile devices is also something I'd recommend.
Thanks for the heads-up. -

Could this be your connection?
I'll test again this evening. It's ok on phone Chrome.

This is a nightmare.
I can't get logged into my normal account and i'm on now as a new user.
It changed my username from "markb88" to "mbzl" which was my first account when I joined up years ago.
Half the posts in the Newcastle section have disappeared. What's happened?
-
• #865
@mbzl @markb88
You've signed in using a different email to the one you were using on the vBulletin version. This created a new account.
I've just switched the emails around, sign out and sign in again (using the same email that you are currently using) and you will get your original account.
On imported items in the Newcastle section. This isn't something I'm aware of but I'll verify this tonight when I restore the back up database from vBulletin and will check the numbers for just the Newcastle section.
When we imported, we had verification that the number of items that were exported matched the vBulletin data, and that the number of items imported matched the vBulletin data. All other metrics show that all of the content is here, and is intact.
But, I will triple check this evening by querying the old database and comparing numbers for just the Newcastle section.
Additionally all old URLs still work, and any permissions that existed were brought over.

Hey man, thanks for a super quick response. My user name all sorted now. The Newcastle section is actually fine. I forgot a kid made a second thread for the bike tag and clicked on that instead of the usual one.
Is there any chance this unused thread can be deleted please? https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/252182/#comment11761136
Or can you make myself, @Andytothemax or @philxthomas admins in the Newcastle section to tidy it up and save you the hassle? Thanks mate
-
• #867
You and @Andytothemax are now moderators of the Newcastle forum, and @philxthomas already was.
You can verify that here:
https://www.lfgss.com/microcosms/529/memberships/Presently there is no merge facility, but you can delete things using the controls in the right hand bar (events and conversations) or by clicking through to individual comments using the link on the comment number ( #866 in your post above would allow me to delete/edit it ).
And thanks for the update on content being complete, I wasn't actually relishing individually verifying the data when I believed it had already been done. Would've done it of course, but still... nice to not have to.
Oh, and I've nuked that other thread.
-
• #868
BTW, why did you rename to user16321 when you were already mbzl ?
You know you can edit your profile name now? The link is top right next to your signed-in avatar.
-
• #869
That's great man, thanks a lot.
I want my name to be "markb88", as that was my ~new~ name when I rejoined the forum a long time ago and that's the name I've been most active on. I've tried to edit it from "user16321" but it wont save. There's a chance it may take a little while to update or it could be the computers at work - Some websites don't respond properly when I'm here. If it still aint fixed i'll sort it when I get home.
Thanks again.
-
• #871
The auto-refresh and scroll to the top has been fixed - many thanks!
Colour scheme is much better too, the stark white immediately after the change was retina burning.
-
• #872
Exactly this... but I'll change your other account to be markb88/2 and that way you can use markb88 on this account.
Done.
-
• #873
oh hai
how do I ignore forums?
-
• #874
Not yet possible, but will be extremely effective once we add it.
It will probably be called "hide" rather than "ignore", and it will have the effect of making content disappear from all pages. You'll have to go to a special page to unhide things.

• #875
Great thanks.
